Article 144 of the Indian Constitution directs the civil and judicial bodies to assist the Supreme Court. It mandates that all civil and judicial authorities on Indian territory must assist the Supreme Court. On 27 May 1949, the Constituent Assembly examined Draft Article 120 (Article 144).

Article 144 of the Indian Constitution is part of Chapter IV of the Union Judiciary. Article 144 discusses the civil and judicial authorities’ obligations to assist the Supreme Court.
- Article 144 requires all national authorities to assist the Supreme Court.
- According to the article, regardless of the controversy or matter, once the Supreme Court renders its verdict, it is the constitutional obligation of every person and authority to accept the decision rendered by it as binding.
- The Supreme Court aids civil authority and Judicial authority in India under Article 144 of the Indian Constitution.
- On the other hand, section 144 of the CrPC authorizes a district magistrate, a sub-divisional magistrate, or any other administrative magistrate authorized by the state government to issue instructions to prevent and remedy urgent cases of nuisance or suspected danger.
- It prohibits the assembly of four or more people in an area, and according to the law, every member of such unlawful assembly can be booked for engaging in rioting.
