A collection of fish is called a 'school'. A school of fish is of the same species. They move in unison while swimming.

Eighty percent of the known fish species are found in schools. Fish migrate through the water more quickly when they swim with their families, which helps reduce friction between their bodies and the water.

There are reasons for fishes to move to a school. Most of the fishes move in groups or schools. Predators are always startled and alarmed by the large bulk. Schooling fish resemble a single, enormous species when they travel in a perfect pattern.
