International resources governed by international bodies are the properties of the nations in the world. Resources are all things in our environment that we can use to meet our requirements, provided they are technologically feasible, economically viable, and culturally acceptable. All nations around the globe have ownership rights to global resources. Ocean resources outside the Exclusive Economic Zone's 200-nautical mile boundary belong to the open ocean and cannot be used by any one country without the consent of international organizations.

International Resources

  • Resources classified as international are those that are owned by all nations.
  • Oceans and seas, for instance. Some international institutions control the flow of international resources. For instance, each nation is granted access to a certain range of oceans.
  • This region, fixed to a distance of 200 km, is known as the "exclusive economic zone." Marine resources beyond 200 kilometers are referred to as open ocean, and no country has any claim there without the consent of international organizations.

The following categories can be used to categorize resources:

  • biotic and abiotic origin
  • renewable and non-renewable exhaustibility
  • based on the status of development - potential developed stock, and reserves
  • based on ownership - individual, communal, national, and international
