The different ways in which glucose is oxidised to provide energy in various organisms are aerobic and anaerobic respiration. The main energy source for living things is glucose. In different organisms, glucose can be oxidised in one of two ways to give energy.

Different Ways of Oxidisation in Glucose
Aerobic respiration:
- It releases water, CO2, and a sizable amount of substrate energy in the presence of oxygen culminating in the complete oxidation of organic molecules.
- It occurs only in higher creatures.
- It occurs in both the mitochondria and the cytoplasm.
- The three main steps are the citric acid cycle, glycolysis, and the transport chain of electrons.
Anaerobic respiration:
- It also goes by the term fermentation.
- It is an instance of cellular respiration that occurs without oxygen.
- It occurs only in the cytoplasm.
- Alcoholic fermentation and lactic acid are the two kinds of anaerobic respiration.
- For instance, yeast, lactic acid bacteria, and E. coli

- Carbon dioxide.
- Ethanol
- Lactic acid fermentation end products:
- Pyruvic acid
