Methods of Contraception
- Natural methods:
Example - Coitus interrupts or withdrawal
Example - Condoms
- Intra-uterine devices (IUDs):
Examples - Non-medicated IUDs and copper-releasing IUDs,
- Oral contraceptives:
oral delivery of small doses of progestogens or progestogen-estrogen combinations in the form of a tablet or pill.
Progestogens can be injected by women either alone or in conjunction with oestrogen.
Progestogens can also be used by women as skin implants, either alone or in conjunction with oestrogen.
- Surgical methods:
The gamete translocation can also be stopped using some surgical techniques. In order to stop the transmission of sperm, it also involves restricting the vas deferens. We call this a vasectomy. Similarly to this, a female's fallopian tubes can be closed off to prevent the egg from entering the uterus. It is referred to as a tubectomy.

Natural methods, barriers, IUDs, oral contraceptives, injectables, and implants are among the several forms of contraception. These methods mainly aim to reduce the chances of pregnancy in a woman.
