UPTET is mandatory to qualify to become a teacher in private and government schools in Uttar Pradesh. After qualifying UPTET candidates can apply to any private school, government-aided school, and even can apply in Private Institutes.

Nature of UPTET Exam
The UPTET is a state-level admission exam that serves as a recruiting method for those interested in teaching at the elementary or junior high school level. Every year, the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB) sends out these notifications for teacher recruitment in schools. The nature of the UPTET exam has been outlined below:
1. UPTET consists of two papers, i.e. Paper 1 is for primary classes & Paper 2 is for secondary classes.
2. UPTET is mandatory to appear for regular and contractual teacher vacancies.
3. UPTET is 150 marks and consists of 150 questions.
4. There is no negative marking in the UPTET.
5. The level of questions asked in UPTET is moderate to high level.
6. Candidates need to score at least 60% to qualify for the UPTET.
7. After qualifying Candidates are awarded a UPTET certificate which is valid for a lifetime.

1. Super TET: Candidates who qualify for the UPTET Paper 1 can apply for the Super TET recruitment exam which is also held by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB). Super TET is for the recruitment of Assistant Teachers at the Primary level in government schools in Uttar Pradesh. It is expected that this year the UPBEB will release around 17000 vacancies for the post of assistant primary teachers. This is the golden opportunity for UPTET 2023 qualified candidates.
Note: Candidates who qualified for CTET Paper 1 can also apply for the Super TET Examination.
2. UP Lt Grade: UP Lt Grade which is also known as Uttar Pradesh Licentiates Teacher Grade conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC). It is for the post of Teacher for those candidates who are eligible and interested to join the teaching sector. In this recruitment process, the selection is made only on the merit-based marks obtained by the candidates in the written examination. During the last recruitment process in 2018, the UPPSC had filled around 10,768 vacancies for the Lt grade posts. In this year’s recruitment, the candidates who have successfully passed their UPTET Paper-2 can apply for the post.
3. Uttar Pradesh State government Teacher Jobs (TGT/PGT): Candidates who wish to become teachers as a Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) or Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) can look into this examination. The recruitment process of TGT or PGT is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Service Selection Board (UPSESSB). In the previous year, approximately 15000 vacancies for the post of TGT and PGT were released and filled by the board. The board will soon release the UP TGT/PGT vacancies on its official website. The candidates have to appear for a written test and an interview to get appointed for the post of TGT and PGT.
4. Private Schools: Qualifying for the UPTET Exam to open the doors to several prestigious PSUs (Public Sector Undertaking) for qualified candidates. Candidates can give interviews to the private schools of Uttar Pradesh. The selection will be through the academic qualification and interview round.
UPTET Cut-Off Marks
Candidates must pass the UPTET cut-off to be considered for teaching jobs in Uttar Pradesh. The qualifying mark for General candidates is 90, while the qualifying mark for other candidates is 82. The Board will also post the district-by-district UPTET cutoffs and results on its official website. Notably, to pass this exam, you must pass both the overall and district-specific UPTET cutoffs. UPTET exam is 150 marks and includes 5 sections in it.
