The Shortlisting Criteria for IIFT MBA (IB) Admissions have also been released.  There are two major steps to MBA (IB) admission:

  • Stage 1: (Shortlisting)
  • Stage 2: (WAT-GD/ Extempore-PI)

For the IIFT shortlisting after the result, the minimum cut-off percentile is determined by the number of candidates who will be shortlisted and the number of seats available. In accordance with IIFT’s gender diversity policy, the cut-off marks for female candidates in all categories are two points lower than the actual cut-off.

Marks obtained in Class 10 and 12 will be considered in addition to the requirement given above. Non-engineers may receive up to 5 points to achieve a balanced class composition at IIFT. Below mentioned are the  shortlisting criteria for IIFT 2023-25 Admission:

IIFT Admission Process – WAT-GD-PI:

IIFT 2023-25 shortlisting for the WAT-GD-PI will be on the basis of the IIFT 2023 percentile including the sectional cut-offs. The scores obtained by the candidate in the written exam carry the maximum weightage. Additionally, criteria of academic consistency, academic diversity, gender diversity, work experience will be used for the final selection. In addition to this, the
candidate has to appear for the following:

IIFT Written Ability Test:

The WAT consists of submitting an essay by the shortlisted candidates. The candidate is asked to comprehend their ideas and views on the given topic. They are then evaluated on the basis of how well they have expressed and presented their ideas on the said topic. Business and economics, as well as politics and society, are all possible topics.

IIFT Group Discussion:

A group of candidates is given a topic to discuss during the IIFT group discussion. Each candidate has one minute to talk on the topic in the first round. Following that, the ground is opened for discussion by the entire group. The goal of group discussion is to evaluate the candidate’s leadership traits, communication abilities, and ability to motivate others.

IIFT Personal Interview:

The candidates who have been shortlisted need to appear for the Personal Interview. Interview questions pertain to the aspirant’s experience, hobbies, and academic history. Tell us about yourself, to why did you quit the engineering sector, are some of the commonly asked questions. A personal interview is held to evaluate the candidate’s communication skills as well as analytical and problem-solving ability.

What to do after the IIFT Result 2023?

Following are some of the important points that the applicants should undertake after getting the required minimum percentile for the IIFT exam or receiving their IIFT results. Because the ultimate decision will be made only after the WAT, GD/Extempore, and PI rounds are completed, candidates must work hard to clear those rounds.

The following are some helpful tips for passing the selection rounds.

  • Candidates should practise writing a 200-300 word topic on a variety of topics. They should aim to finish the topic in less than 20 minutes.
  • Candidates should review the frequently asked questions in the PI questions to get a sense of the types of questions that will be asked.
  • Candidates should strive to speak for at least 10-15 minutes on any random topic. They will be able to develop their communication abilities as a result of this.
  • Candidates should be up to date on current events because the interviewer may ask questions about them.
