VITEEE 2020 Eligibility Criteria, new pattern and important dates

VITEEE 2020 is scheduled from 13th-19th of April, 2020. For admission to Vellore Institute of Technology University (its campuses across the country), it is mandatory for candidates to secure a place in the merit list of VITEEE 2020. The application forms are out and the form will be available till 29th Feb. Now, Let us understand the different eligibility criteria for the entrance examination.

VITEEE Eligibility Criteria 2020

  • Domicile- Resident/Non-resident Indian national/Person of Indian Origin (PIO)/Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) holder are eligible for applying to VITEEE 2020. However, it is to note that the PIO/OCI candidates should have studied in schools located in India in the preceding two years.

  • Qualifying examination- All those candidates who have qualified 10+2 examination or are appearing in 2020, will be eligible for the VITEEE 2020. List of boards which are accepted by VIT for 10+2 or equivalent examination has been published. Detailed information is available in the Information Brochure published by VITEEE committee and you can read it by clicking here.

  • Marks in Qualifying examination- The minimum aggregate percentage (in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics only) scored in 10+2 or equivalent examination, required for admission to VIT University, is 60 in case of general category candidates and 50 percent in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category or to remote locations like Jammu & Kashmir and the North Eastern states (Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Sikkim, and Nagaland). 

  • Age Limit- Aspirants, born on or after 1st July 1998, are eligible to apply for the entrance examination for admission to VIT University. The documents serving as the authentic proof of the candidate's age will be required at the time of counselling. Failing to provide the same, the candidacy of the aspirants will be cancelled. It should be noted that the High School or Class 10th certificate will be considered as authentic proof for the age of the candidate.

Exam Pattern and Important Events

This time VIT has made some changes this year. 10 questions of aptitude are added along with the other sections 5 questions have been reduced from both Physics and Chemistry section. There will be total of 125 questions and duration of the exam is 150 minutes. No negative marking for wrong answers.
