UPSC Rank Wise Post means the candidates clearing the UPSC Exam are allocated services as per their UPSC Rank and score. Every year UPSC conducts the Civil Services Exam for the recruitment of candidates for the posts of IAS, IPS, IFS, etc. However, the post of a candidate depends on his/her UPSC rank. Candidates must have knowledge of the Rank Wise Post in UPSC and what is the rank required for them to get into their desired service.

UPSC Rank Wise Post 2022

As per the UPSC Vacancy 2022, 1011 UPSC Ranks are expected after the completion of the exam. UPSC results will be released after the interview round along with the UPSC cutoff. Based on the cutoff marks for each category, IAS IFS IPS Ranking will be released.

UPSC Rank Wise Post 2021

The third iteration of UPSC 2021 rank-wise service allocation has been released by the DoPT on its official website, A total of 176 candidates have been selected as IAS officers. The Last Rank for IAS in UPSC Exam 2021 is 680 in the general category. IFS Rank in UPSC 2021 for the general category is 88. 

IAS Rank Wise Post

The final result of the UPSC Exam is concluded after the UPSC Mains and interview tests are done. The final result is declared by the UPSC on the basis of marks secured in the UPSC Mains and Interview round. This final result reveals the IAS rank of the candidates, and as per the cutoff, candidates are allocated to various UPSC Posts. One of the highly preferred services is Indian Administrative Service (IAS), followed by the Indian Police Service (IPS).

The IAS Rank each year depends on the number of vacancies released by the commission.

FAQs on UPSC Rank Wise Post

  • The UPSC Job List Rank Wise is the final allocation of candidates to all the civil services posts based on the total vacancy for that year, post preference and the cutoff. Usually, the last rank for IAS closes first and then IFS and IPS ranks are filled. The IAS Ranking for 2021 was 79. 

  • As per the previous year’s data candidates from general categories must be under rank 75, candidates from OBC backgrounds must be under 550 ranks, candidates from SC backgrounds must come under 600 ranks, and ST candidates can need to come under 650 ranks. However, the numbers can change based on various factors.

  • The UPSC Rank for all posts is determined based on the marks obtained in the UPSC Mains and Interview. Depending on the cutoff and the number of candidates, the ranks are finalized. There are various tie-breaking scenarios in case two candidates secure the same marks such as marks in the compulsory subjects, optional objects, and so on. 

  • The total UPSC Ranks are based on the total number of vacancies released. Usually, the UPSC rank wise post are less than the total vacancy as few applicants disqualify based on medical grounds or incorrect documentation. 

  • To become an IPS officer candidates' rank of candidates in the UPSC Exam must come under 230, and OBC candidates must have ranks under 480 as per the previous year's trends.

  • The UPSC passing marks for IAS ranks is dependent on the cutoff. As per the trend, approximately 900-950 marks must be secured in UPSC Mains and Interview combined. 

  • Candidates aiming for IFS get into the top 100 ranks to be assured of getting into IFS. However, someone having a top 130-150 rank can also get IFS depending on the vacancies of that particular year.
