Cabinet Ministers of India 2023
Cabinet Ministers of India 2023 contains a member of the Government’s executive branch appointed to the cabinet. It is also known as the Union Cabinet Ministers of India, which is a part of the Council of Ministers. All the members of the Cabinet must serve as a member of either of the houses(Rajya Sabha or Lok Sabha) for six consecutive months. List of Cabinet Ministers of India 2023 PDF
The Prime Minister is the head of the Cabinet Ministers. Including the Prime Minister, there are a total of 29 members as per the updated list, which was released on 6 July 2022. All portfolios of the Cabinet Ministers of India, which are not allocated to any minister, are controlled by the PM of India. The resignation or demise of the Prime Minister automatically disbands the Cabinet Ministers which is the central transmission channel between the President and the Council of Ministers.
All Ministers of India 2023
There are a total of 76 ministers in India currently under the Council of ministers. This Council of Ministers took the oath with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 30 May 2019. It is essential to know that a vital difference exists between the Cabinet and the Council of Ministers. The Council of Cabinet Ministers is a subdivision of this council. To be precise, the Council of Ministers consists of the following divisions:
- Prime Minister
- Cabinet Ministers (28 members)
- Ministers of State (Independent Charge) (2 members)
- Ministers of State (45 members)
The council also includes Deputy Ministers and Parliamentary secretaries. All of the levels have their responsibilities to perform, which are elaborated in the table below:

Constitutional Requirements for Cabinet Ministers of India
The Article 352 of the Constitution finds the word ‘Cabinet’ mentioned in it. And as per Article 74, the Council of Ministers of India(including Cabinet Ministers of India) and the Prime Minister will assist and suggest the President of India who can hold their position to exercise the crucial functions. Here are other facts from constitutional requirements:
- The Prime Minister had the control of appointing anyone to his council of ministers before the 91st constitutional amendment act 2003.
- After the Act modification, there was an extreme change in depriving such authority of the Prime Minister.
- The amendment added Clause (1A) in the Article, which brought the 91st Constitution Amendment Act, 2003.
- It stated that the total number of Ministers, including the Prime Minister, cannot surpass 15 percent of the entire members of Lok Sabha.
- The Ministry of Cooperation was established in the same year.
Ministers of State (Independent Charge)
Ministers of state are one-time cabinet members of India or party leaders who instruct the Sovereign in complicated circumstances, with moral power but without legal competence. Unlike the Minister of state, these ministers can attend official meetings with Cabinet Ministers of India on important issues. Below are the two current state ministers that have independent charges:
