UPSC Cut Off Tie-Breaking Rules

There are a few things every candidate must know about the selection based on UPSC Cutoff. When two or more candidates secure equal marks in the UPSC Exam, the tie will be resolved by applying the following rules.

  • The candidate who scores more on compulsory papers and personality tests will be ranked higher.
  • If the marks mentioned are also equal, then the candidate who is older will get a higher rank.
  • In rare cases where the candidates score equally in the compulsory papers and the personality test, and also the same in age, then the candidate who has scored more marks only in compulsory papers will get a higher rank.
