UPPSC Syllabus 2023

UPPSC Syllabus 2023 is divided into three stages: Prelims, Mains, and Interviews. The PCS syllabus for Prelims consists of two objective papers, while the new UPPSC Mains syllabus consists of eight descriptive papers. As per the new syllabus, the Mains shall have 6 General Studies papers. No modification is done in the Hindi and Essay exams. The Pre syllabus is 200 marks each for GS 1 and CSAT as the two papers. The Mains has 8 papers where General Hindi and Essay are for 150 marks each, and the other papers are for 200 marks each.

Changes in UPPSC Syllabus 2023

UP State Commission conducts the UPPSC PCS exam for Group A and B posts in the state. However, there has been a change in the UPPSC syllabus for the PCS exam from 2023 onwards. The new syllabus is formulated to keep in mind the Uttar Pradesh administration job requirement. Aspirants can go through the UPPSC exam pattern to get more clarity.

  • A negative marking of 1/3rd out of the total marks will be there in the Prelims exam of UPPSC.
  • UPPSC Mains syllabus shall have 6 GS papers named GS 1, GS 2, GS 3, GS 4, GS 5, and GS 6.
  • The optional subjects have been replaced with two more General Studies papers based on knowledge of Uttar Pradesh.
  • The interview for UPPSC PCS will now carry 100 marks.

UPPSC Prelims Syllabus

UPPSC Prelims Syllabus consists of two parts: General Studies Paper 1 Syllabus and CSAT Syllabus. The Prelims syllabus has been formulated in such a way that it builds the foundation of the candidates to prepare for the next stage.

  • UPPSC Prelims syllabus includes topics such as Current Affairs, History, India and World Geography, Economic and Social Development, Environment, etc.
  • In addition, general awareness should also be prepared with reference to Uttar Pradesh.

UPPSC Prelims Syllabus General Studies (Paper 1)

UPPSC Prelims CSAT Syllabus (Paper 2)

The UPPSC Paper 2 in Prelims is going to be qualifying in nature. Candidates must obtain at least 33% in it. Its marks will not be considered to determine the Prelims result. The official UPPSC syllabus covers important topics as follows.

UPPSC PCS Mains Syllabus Paper 2 (Essay)

UPPSC Mains Syllabus for Paper 2 consists of essay writing of about 700 words for the following sections:

  • Section-A: Literature and Culture, Political Sphere and Social Sphere.
  • Section-B: Science, Economic Sphere/ Environment, Technology, Agriculture, Industry, and Trade.
  • Section-C: National and International Events Landslide, National Calamities, Earthquake, Deluge, Drought, National Development Programs and Projects.

UPPSC Mains Syllabus General Studies (GS)

The General Studies Syllabus for UPPSC consists of 4 papers: General Studies Paper 1, General Studies Paper 2, General Studies Paper 3, General Studies Paper 4, General Studies Paper 5, and General Studies Paper 6. Each of the papers has a different syllabus for them.

The General Studies Syllabus is an extension of the Prelims syllabus. It requires aspirants to have a broader understanding of all the subjects. Candidates must master the art of writing answers for this exam in accordance with the UPPSC Mains syllabus.

UPPSC Syllabus for GS Paper 1
