UPPSC GIC exam consists of two stages:-
1. Prelims - will be of 300 marks. The total number of questions asked in the Prelims exam will be 120. Out of which 40 questions will be from the General Studies Section and 80 questions will be from Optional Subjects.
2. Mains - will be of 400 marks. The Mains exam consists of two papers. First Paper is of Hindi Language that consists of parts A & B (50 marks ) each. This paper is 100 marks. The time duration of the first paper is 2 hours. The second Paper is 300 marks and its time duration is 3 hours (Optional Subject) that candidates selected.

How to prepare for the UPPSC GIC Prelims Exam 2021
UPPSC GIC Prelims exam consists of General Studies and Optional Subjects and includes questions in M.C.Q. form.
- The following subjects need to be studied:-
1- General Science (High School Standard)
2- History of India
3- Indian National Movement
4- Indian Polity, Economy & Culture
5- Indian Agriculture, Commerce & Trade
6- World Geography & Indian Geography & Natural resources of India
7- Current National and International Important Events
8- Logic & Reasoning based on General Intelligence.
9- Specific knowledge regarding Education, Culture, Agriculture, Industry Trade, Living & Social Traditions of Uttar Pradesh.
10- Elementary Mathematics up to 8th level:-Arithmetic, Algebra and Geometry.
11- Ecology and Environment

Following tips can be followed to crack UPPSC GIC Prelims & Mains exam-
- Syllabus - As this exam is not an easy task to crack. It requires lots of effort and knowledge to crack it, so the most important point is to have a proper syllabus beforehand before starting to prepare for the exam.
- Study Material- This is the most important step of any competitive exam preparation. Study Material is considered to be part and parcel of any exam to qualify. It is advisable to refer to only authentic books and of a famous author to be studied. NCERT books are considered to be the bible for competitive exams.
- Time Management- As the day consists of 24 hours beginners can follow the rule of 8-8-8, study 8 hours, sleep 8 hours and relax for 8 hours.
- Revision Schedule- Revision is very mandatory to crack any exam. Keep an hour in a day to revise what you have learned so far.
- Notes Making- This is mandatory to prepare notes side by side while we revise our content, otherwise, at the last moment, it becomes difficult to recall everything.
- Previous Year Question Paper- Candidates must refer to the previous year's question papers to know the pattern of the exam and the types of questions being asked in the exam.
- Watch Motivational Videos- Candidates should keep themself motivated by watching the motivational videos i.e. Interview of the candidates those have qualified the competitive exam.
