UPPSC AE Selection Process: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has released the official notification for the UPPSC AE Recruitment 2021 for the posts of Assistant Engineers in various engineering disciplines. UPPSC will fill up a total of 281 vacancies, out of which 10 are reserved for candidates belonging to marginalized social groups like Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Scheduled Cates (SCs), and Scheduled Tribes (STs). To be able to get through the UPPSC Asst. Engg. exam it is crucial to know about the selection process.
UPPSC AE selection process is a two-tier stage that includes a written exam followed by an Interview Round. In this post, we have discussed the stage-wise selection process for the UPPSC Asst. Engg. Knowing the detailed selection criteria for UPPSC AE will give you clarity of your preparation strategy.
UPPSC AE Selection Process for Written Exam
For any competitive exam, it is of utmost importance that students possess a thorough understanding of the exam pattern. The UPPSC AE Exam 2021 is divided into two sections, Paper 1 and Paper 2.
- The UPPSC AE Paper 1 consists of two subjects, General Hindi and Engineering-Related Subject.
- The UPPSC AE Paper 2 also consists of two sections, General Studies and a core subject based on the candidate’s educational background.
- All the questions will be in the form of objective-type-questions (MCQs).
- Each paper will have 125 questions which means the entire UPPSC AE Exam 2021 will carry 250 questions.
- In both papers, each question will carry 3 marks making the entire UPPSC AE Exam 2021 of 750 marks.
- Students must note that there is a negative marking of 1 mark in both papers for every wrong answer.
- The duration for each paper in the UPPSC AE Exam 2021 is 2 hours and 30 minutes.

UPPSC AE 2021 Interview
After written exams is conducted and the UPPSC AE result is declared, the interview round will be conducted. Students who performed extremely well and secured the cutoff marks in the written examinations will be shortlisted for this round.
- The UPPSC AE Interview will carry a total of 100 marks.
- Apart from the UPPSC AE interview, all the necessary documents will also be verified during the interview like educational certificates, letters of experience, proof of residence, and passport-size photographs.
- Once the interview is conducted, the commission will release the list of selected students based on their performances in the UPPSC AE Exam 2021 and interview process.
- These shortlisted candidates will be offered the coveted jobs of Assistant Engineers in the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission.
