UPPCS Main Exam and RO/ARO postponed

In the wake of the Uttar Pradesh Government’s announcement of sealing all the COVID hotspots in fifteen districts on April 08, 2020, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission has decided to postpone the exams scheduled to be held in near future. The Commission is an authorised State agency to conduct the recruitment of administrators through Uttar Pradesh Civil Services Examination. The examination consists of three stages: Prelims, Main and Interview. The ‘UPPSC PCS Prelims 2019’ was conducted on 15th Dec 2019 and the second stage Main was scheduled to be held from 20th April 2020. This is the second stage which is postponed. Likewise, UPPSC RO/ARO, the prelims for the recruitment of Review Officer/ Assistant Review Officer has been postponed.

The Uttar Pradesh government has imposed restrictions in affected areas or ‘hotspots’ in Gautambuddh Nagar (Noida), Ghaziabad, Meerut, Lucknow, Agra, Kanpur, Varanasi, Shamli, Saharanpur, Firozabad, Bulandhshahr, Bareilly, Basti, Maharajganj and Sitapur. This step is taken to prevent community spread of Covid-19 virus from these hotspots. In this regard, the State government has addressed to the district heads of all the above-cited districts, that social distancing is maintained at its fullest. No shop, either the grocery store or vegetable market will be opened. Only home delivery will be allowed due to the high number of cases reported from these places.
Therefore, Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission has decided to postpone the exams as it is difficult to conduct the State Services exams under the prevailing circumstances of COVID-19 spread. The exams that are postponed until the next date notified are:
- UPPSC PCS Main Exam 2019, previously scheduled on 20 April 2020,
- UPPSC RO/ARO Preliminary Examination 2016, previously scheduled to be held on 3rd May 2020.
The Commission has also mentioned that the candidates will be notified in due course of time.
