Dear Gradians,

Read the success story of BYJU'S Exam Prep user, Prithvi Raj Raghuvanshi and know how he cracked the NTA UGC NET December 2018 exam. He has shared important tips on how to prepare for the upcoming UGC NET exam.

UGC NET Success Story: Prithvi Raj Raghuvanshi (Subject: Criminology)

1. Preparation Strategy

  • As far as exam strategy is concerned, I made sure that I studied those subjects first which I found tough and which required me to clear my concepts first.
  • I made a strategy to mix and match easy subjects with the difficult ones.
  • I skipped certain topics which I was confident about.
  • Secondly, I joined certain study groups on Facebook and WhatsApp that helped me to brush my knowledge on every subject.
  • Last but not least, I practiced as many sample papers and previous years’ exam papers as I could.
  • Apart from that, I also practiced questions that were shared on BYJU'S Exam Prep app.

2. Practice

It helped me a lot, it cleared my concepts as well as gave me an idea about the questions which were going to be asked in the coming exam.

3. Section-wise Important tips

  • For paper 1, one should have basic knowledge about Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning.
  • Personally, I found paper 1 lot easier than paper 2. Just a little practice can enhance your marks.
  • But there are some topics which require special attention i.e. Teaching and Research Aptitude. A lot of questions are usually asked from these topics.
  • For paper 2, the preparation depends on your personal knowledge about the paper. In my case, fortunately, I covered all the topics listed in the UGC NET syllabus of 2018. I would suggest studying according to the prescribed syllabus for paper 2.
  • I cleared JRF and UGC NET in my appearing year of masters. I have to complete my Master's first. So hopefully I will face the interview next year.

4. Books Preferred

  • I didn't follow any particular book during my preparation.
  • Instead, I attempted lots of online quizzes which were available for free of cost on BYJU'S Exam Prep app.

5. Score/ Attempts (Scorecard)

  • Since there is no negative marking in the NET exam, I attempted all the questions. I scored 214 out of 300. BYJU'S Exam Prep helped me a lot in paper 1 preparation of UGC NET. The daily practice questions provided by the BYJU'S Exam Prep app helped me to do daily practice.
  • Don't take much stress during the examination time. Believe in your preparation. Believe can make things happen. 3-4 months preparation is enough to clear UGC NET if your basics are clear.
The line which inspires me all the time is:

Do not try to do extraordinary things, but do ordinary things with intensity

Hope this will help all the students who are preparing for UGC NET and JRF.
