  • Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL) is a National Law University situated in Patiala, Punjab. The University founded in the year  2006 by the State of Punjab. It is the only law school in the state to have been established under the National Law School.

  • The University introduced its first academic programme in 2006, with Prof. (Dr.) Gurjit Singh as the Vice-Chancellor. The vision of RGNUL is to become one of the best centres of legal education, training and research in the world.

  • RGNUL has been designing and delivering courses to enhance the ability and capacity of the students, members of the faculty and other participants in avoiding and resolving problems under the framework of the law.

ADMISSION

  • RGNUL take students for an under-graduate and post-graduate program through Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) which is being conducted every year.

  • RGNUL has been ranked in the top ten in the National Law Universities list. Students must have passed 12th standard or equivalent with no less than 50% marks.

COURSE STRUCTURE

  • The University has developed an all-round approach towards understanding law and justice from a multi-disciplinary perspective. The University offers unique five years integrated undergraduate program B.A.LL.B.(Hons.), to generate exceptionally skilled global legal professionals.

  • The University is established by the Bar Council of India, and the University admits 196 undergraduates each year through the Common Law Admission Test. They finish 15 trimesters before being awarded a combined B.A.LL.B (Hons.). The post-graduate course proffered at the University is the LL.M. amount.

  • M. course is of One-year period and is separated into three Trimester. University offers specialization in Business Law, Criminal Law and International Law.

  • Allotment of LL.M. subject specializations will be done by the university at the time of admission based on merit. Discipline will be offered subject to the availability of faculty and a sufficient number of students opting for it.

PLACEMENTS

  • The internships start from the first year itself. Placements begin from 3rd years onwards. Some students secure offers by working excellently during their internships.

  • The University has a placement cell within its campus which works day in day out to help students. Tier - I Law Firms are the biggest recruiters. Day zero materializes in the last month of 4th year. Many law firms come for the interview.

  • Placements per cent are outstanding. After day zero in 4th, many students keep getting placed based on rolling arrangements. Which requires many banks, law firms, companies keep coming during the 5th year.

COLLEGE INFRASTRUCTURE

  • The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL) is a public law school and a National Law University established under the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law Act, 2006 in the state of Punjab. The University is located in Patiala, which is located at a distance of 60 km. from the capital of Punjab, Chandigarh. The act provides for the Chief Justice of India or a Senior Supreme Court Judge to serve as the Visitor of the University.

  • Along with that, the campus area of the University is spread over 50 acres, with all necessary facilities such as a library, internet, labs, moot court halls, auditorium and many more. The University has 12 research centres with approximately 40 teaching and research faculty members.

  • The University holds an excellent faculty-student ratio of 1:15. 85% of faculty members in the University have a PhD degree, and the average age of faculty members is 38 years. Every year, the University submits approximately 1,000 students, and out of them, 44% are women students.

    EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Moot Court Competitions

  • Moot courts and other legal events are organized in the University, as a part of the curriculum and extracurricular activity. The University has a Moot Court Committee, popularly known as the RMCC for conducting moot courts and other academic activities. The RMCC also conducts inter-university moot court competitions, namely the RGNUL  Moot Court Competition.

  • Students from the University have participated and excelled in various national as well as international moot court competitions, thereby, winning laurels for the University. RGNUL won the INNOVIS LNCT IBC Virtual Moot Court Competition 2020 organized by Innovis Law Partners and LNTC University, Bhopal.

  • RGNUL team also won the best speakers award in 18th Surana and Surana National Corporate Law Moot and best mooters award in 2nd Jagannath Memorial National Moot Court Competition 2020.
