CLAT 2022- Know All About HNLU Raipur

• The University introduced its first academic programme in 2003, with Indian jurist (Dr.) V.C. Vivekanandan as the Director. The vision of HNLU is to become one of the best centers of legal education, training and research in the world.

• The mission of HNLU is to develop and nurture the intellect for the betterment of the nation and humanity through Law and Justice. The objectives of the HNLU among other things, are to contribute to the national development by instilling a sense of responsibility among her students, while simultaneously cultivating in them the spirit of intellectual freedom, qualities of leadership, imaginative power and clarity.

• HNLU has been designing and delivering courses to enhance the ability and capacity of the students, members of the faculty and other participants in avoiding and resolving problems under the framework of the law.

• The University is a participant of the Association of Indian Universities, and the benefactor of the University is the Hon. Chief Justice of India. It works diligently with the High Court of Chhattisgarh, as well as the National Judicial Academy.

ADMISSION

• HNLU take students for an under-graduate and post-graduate program through Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) which is being conducted every year.

• HNLU has been ranked in the top in the National Law Universities list. Students must have passed 12^th standard with no less than 50% marks.

COURSE STRUCTURE

• The University has developed a holistic approach towards understanding law and justice from a multi-disciplinary perspective. The University offers unique five years integrated undergraduate program B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) to generate exceptionally skilled global legal professionals.

• The University is established by the Bar Council of India, and the University admits 160 undergraduates each year through the Common Law Admission Test. They finish 15 trimesters before being awarded a combined B.A.LL.B (Hons.) degree. The post-graduate course proffered at the University is the LL.M. amount.

• University offers specialization in Corporate Law, Intellectual Property Law, Environment Law, Technology and Law and Public Law.

• Allotment of LL.M. subject specializations will be done at the time of admission based on merit. Discipline will be offered subject to the availability of faculty and a sufficient number of students opting for it.

PLACEMENTS

• The internships start from the first year itself. Placements begin from 3rd years onwards. Some students secure offers by working excellently during their internships.

• There is a placement cell in University which works day in day out to help students. Tier - I Law Firms are the biggest recruiters. Day zero materializes in the last month of 4th year. Many law firms come for the interview.

• Placements per cent are outstanding. After day zero in 4th, many students keep getting placed based on rolling arrangements. Which requires many banks, law firms, companies keep coming during the 5th year.

• Many students opt for Govt jobs and Judiciary and UPSC, which has a reasonable success rate.

COLLEGE INFRASTRUCTURE

• Earlier, the University ran from a classical heritage building adjacent to the Raj Bhawan in the heart of the city. In the year 2009, the University shifted to its newly constructed campus at Uparwara, Naya Raipur, about 22 km from the centre of Raipur

• The new campus is built over 65 acres of land constructed beside a lake in serene and environment. The circular academic building and administrative building have been constructed similar to the design of the Parliament of India.

• The academic block also consists of a three-story library with a fully air-conditioned reading hall and an air-conditioned computer lab equipping around two hundred computer systems. The academic block also includes the Moot Court Hall designed to match with the standard of the Supreme Court of India and the High Courts. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled.

• The air-conditioned classrooms are equipped with teaching aid such as DLP projectors and no single interactive boards. It also includes a conference hall and an amphitheater. The halls of residence at the new campus have been constructed to provide available room accommodation to each student. However, the later construction of the new hostels for both girls and boys are double occupancy.

• The University's sports amenities consist of a sports complex which houses a gym, facilities for table tennis, badminton, tennis, pool, additional indoor games, two basketball courts, fields for volleyball and football.

• The hostels offer double rooms for the First years and single rooms from Second through the Fifth year.

             EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:

Moot Court Competitions

• The Moot Court Association plays an essential role in helping mooting activity on campus. The hosts every year in October, Justice Hidayatullah National Moot Court Competition, in which teams across the nation participate.

• The competition has been sponsored by the Competition Commission of India and renowned law firms such as Khaitan & Co., J. Sagar & Associates, and Sai Krishna & Associates.

• The 1st Edition of the Moot Court was organized in 2007 was based on Biotechnology Law, the subsequent editions of the moot courts being based on Competition law(in association with the Competition Commission of India). The seventh edition of the competition in 2014 saw the theme is changed to Environmental law HNMCC is listed as a tier five Moot in the Mooting Premier League.

Intra University Sports Event 

• The University has a cricket tournament, the Sudeep Memorial Cricket Tournament, named after an alumnus.

• There is an annual football tournament as well, held in the University known as the Hidayatullah Premier League (HPL). A basketball tournament, named as  Dunkyard, has also been held since 2013.
