TISSNET 2023-25: Exam Centre, Syllabus and Pattern

TISSNET is a national-level entrance exam for the candidates aspiring to get admission into the Master's Programme offered by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. TISSNET 2023-25 will be held between 28th January 2023 - 28th February 2023 in 40 cities in India. It is a computer-based test. TISS offers 57 Master's Degree programmes from its Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati, and Hyderabad campuses for the 2023-25 batch. The candidates can apply for a maximum of three programmes across any of the two campuses indicating the order of preference. The merit list will be prepared based on the preferences given by the candidate in the application form.

TISSNET 2023-25 Exam Pattern

TISSNET 2023-25 Exam Pattern will consist of three sections - General Awareness (GA), Mathematical and Logical Reasoning & English Proficiency. The duration of the exam will be of 100 minutes and the exam will be conducted in online mode. There will be an individual sectional cut-off in TISSNET for the GA section. The candidates need to meet the cut-off for both the GA section as well as the overall cut-off to qualify for the next stage of the selection process.

*For qualifying the TISSNET sectional cut-off for General Awareness (GA) is applied . The Candidate not scoring the minimum cut-off mark in the General Awareness section as above will not be qualified for TISSNET irrespective of the aggregate score.

Sectional Cut-Off (SCO) applied : 

•       GN, EWS, KM, and AF       – 35% i.e. 14 Marks

•       PWD and OBC(NC)           – 30% i.e. 12 Marks

•       SC and ST                         -No sectional cut off applied

TISSNET 2023-25 Syllabus

Among all the three sections in the paper, the General Awareness section is considered to be the most difficult. It carries the highest weightage of 40%. Although there is no defined syllabus for TISSNET, some of the relevant topics are listed down that should be covered based on the last years' TISSNET papers are listed below:

General Awareness

The General Awareness section is expected to consist of 40 questions. Each question will carry one mark. To prepare for this section a wide variety of topics needs to be covered. There are questions in this section from both static GK and current affairs. Some relevant topics are listed down from which questions appear in the TISSNET exam.

There are usually 30 questions in this section. Each question carries one mark. If the candidate is well aware of the basic rules of grammar and has a good vocabulary, with some practice he/she should be able to do well in this section.
