Updated on: September 25th, 2023

AFCAT EKT is conducted by Indian Air Force to recruit eligible candidates for Ground Duty posts. The Indian Air Force administers the Air Force Common Admission Test with the assistance of C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing). Every year, AFCAT Engineering Knowledge Test is conducted twice by the officials of the IAF.

In this post, we will discuss all the important details of AFCAT EKT such as eligibility, exam pattern, and syllabus for different branches. Also, candidates can read the best strategy and preparation tips on how to crack AFCAT EKT 2023 exam.

AFCAT EKT

Candidates who choose the Ground Duty (Technical) branch must take both the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) and the Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT). AFCAT EKT is a test for engineering graduates who want to join the Indian Air Force’s technical branches. Candidates can also check AFCAT EKT Study Material to boost their preparation.

AFCAT EKT Exam Overview

EKT is a test held in conjunction with the AFCAT Exam to assess the basic technical understanding of engineering graduates. THE AFCAT EKT exam is intended to assess applicants’ basic engineering knowledge. Applicants for the Technical Ground Duty branch must take the test. EKT is an online test administered in English. AFCAT EKT contains questions about fundamental concepts in your engineering discipline.

Candidates applying for the Technical branch of the IAF must pass both the AFCAT and the EKT exam, which is one pre-requisite for this exam that everyone should bear in mind if they are applying for EKT.

AFCAT EKT Exam Pattern

The Indian Air Force will conduct AFCAT EKT in a computer-based mode. The EKT questions will be demonstrated on the computer screen in random order. The EKT exam will consist of 50 questions, with candidates having 45 minutes to complete it. The exam pattern of the AFCAT EKT is summarized here.

AFCAT EKT Preparation Tips

The AFCAT EKT is not a difficult exam and all that is required is a thorough understanding of the fundamentals. When studying for the AFCAT EKT, make sure you only use reliable study materials from authorized & recognized sources. Candidates are advised to follow the below AFCAT EKT preparation tips:

  • Study Wisely: While studying, take short notes and make a formulae list to help you revise for the AFCAT EKT. This will definitely help you remember everything you’ve learned. It’s not about how many hours you put in; it’s about how to make the most of those hours.
  • Practice Mock Tests: Practice as much as you can to become accustomed to a wide range of questions. Taking different mock tests will help you scale up your exam preparation, become aware of current trends, and improve your time management.
  • Manage Your Speed: The most significant element in any competitive examination is speed. Because EKT is a lengthy exam, you must increase your speed and ensure that you finish the paper within the time limit. Solve the questions you’re certain about first, then move on to the more difficult ones. This will greatly improve your time management skills.
  • Revise Topic-wise: For the Engineer Knowledge Test, you do not need to start from scratch. All you have to do is go over the topics you already know about again. Revisit the syllabus and proceed topic by topic. It will assist your mind in remembering things in a logical order.
  • Learn Important Formulas: The EKT syllabus is extensive as it covers everything the applicant learned while pursuing his/her engineering degree. Prior to the exam, you must make a list of all the important formulas and memorize them. It will assist you in saving time during the exam. You can highlight them in your book or make a separate list of them.
  • Solve Previous Papers: We’ve all heard that practice makes perfect. You must put what you have learned over the years into practice here. We recommend that you solve previous papers or model test papers that are available on the Internet. This will allow you to better gauge your level of preparation as well as plan your AFCAT EKT exam preparation.

To crack AFCAT EKT, just follow the above expert advice/preparation tips on how to prepare and organize for each stage of the selection process. Candidates also need to check AFCAT Selection Procedure so that you can prepare for SSB Interview along with EKT Exam.
