By Vivek Chauhan|Updated : November 8th, 2022

AFCAT EKT Exam for Ground Duty Preparation Tips: The Indian Air Force administers the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) with the assistance of C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing). The AFCAT exam is administered twice a year, i.e., in the month of February & August or September, to select Class-I Gazetted Officers in Flying & Ground Duties (i.e. for Technical & Non-Technical).

In this blog, we will discuss all about AFCAT EKT for Ground Duty Exam (Technical Branch), eligibility, exam pattern, EKT Syllabus for different branches, maximum marks & best strategy on how to crack AFCAT EKT 2023 Exam for Ground Duty (Technical Branch).

Table of Content

AFCAT is an entry point for both male & female candidates who want to join the Indian Air Force for both the Short Service Commission in Flying Branch and Permanent Commission or Short Service Commission in Ground Duties for both Technical & Non-Technical roles and responsibilities.

Candidates are chosen based on their performance in the online exam as well as the interview with the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB). Candidates who choose the Ground Duty (Technical) branch must take both the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) and the Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT). EKT is a test for engineering graduates who want to join the Indian Air Force's technical branches. You can also check AFCAT EKT Study Material for AFCAT 2023 Exam to boost up your preparation.

Basic Details of AFCAT EKT Exam

EKT is a test held in conjunction with the AFCAT exam to assess the basic technical understanding of engineering graduates applying for the AFCAT. It is intended to assess applicants' basic engineering knowledge. Applicants for the Technical Ground Duty branch must take the test. EKT is an online test administered in English, similar to AFCAT. EKT contains questions about fundamental concepts in your engineering discipline.

This additional exam for candidate selection for Technical Duty as an office was introduced by AFCAT a while ago, and it is held immediately after AFCAT, i.e. after the 2 hours of AFCAT test paper is completed. Candidates applying for the Technical branch of the IAF must pass both the AFCAT & the EKT exam, which is one pre-requisite for this exam that everyone should bear in mind if they are applying for EKT.

Overview of AFCAT EKT Exam Pattern

In February 2023, the IAF (Indian Air Force) will conduct AFCAT 1 2023 & EKT in a computer-based mode. The AFCAT Exam questions will be demonstrated on the computer screen in random order. The exam will be given in English. The AFCAT exam will consist of 100 questions, with candidates having 2 hours to complete it.

  • Learn Important Formulas: The EKT syllabus is extensive as it covers everything the applicant learned while pursuing his/her engineering degree. Prior to the exam, you must make a list of all the important formulas and memorize them. It will assist you in saving time during the exam. You can highlight them in your book or make a separate list of them.
  • Solve Previous Papers: We've all heard that practice makes perfect. You must put what you have learned over the years into practice here. • If you fail the EKT exam despite passing the AFCAT exam, you will be ineligible for the technical branch in the AFSB interview. Applicants who are only eligible for the technical branch must pass the EKT exam in addition to the AFCAT exam in order to be eligible for the AFSB interview.

  • EKT is not a difficult test; all that is required is a thorough understanding of the fundamentals. So brush up on your fundamentals & revise them thoroughly. Given the large number of applicant who have passed AFCAT but failed EKT in the past, it is quite understandable that the test can be difficult. However, it is more difficult than difficult.

  • The Engineering Knowledge Test, or EKT, is designed to assess a candidate's engineering knowledge. Applicants for the Technical Ground Duty branch must take the test.

  • The Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) is not required for all candidates taking the AFCAT. Applicants who are seeking in technical positions must take the Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT). In order to advance to the next round of the selection process, these aspirants must meet the EKT Cut Off scores.

  • If you want to join the Air Force's technical branch, you must pass the Engineering Knowledge Test, also known as the EKT. It is required. The AFCAT exam is perhaps the most popular choice of graduates for non-technical, flying, and technical positions. The AFCAT EKT is an engineering test.
