"Pure Banking, Nothing Else" is the tagline of SBI Bank. State Bank of India (SBI) is a publicly traded Indian bank and provider of financial services worldwide. It is a corporation that the government wholly controls and is based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. And following the merger, SBI's tagline is "Bade bank ke Bada Faayde."
History of State Bank of India:
- It was the first joint-stock bank established by the Government of Bengal in British India.
- Following the Bank of Bengal were the Banks of Bombay (15 April 1840) and Madras (1 July 1843).
- When India gained independence, the Imperial Bank had a capital basis of INR 11.85 crores (including reserves), deposits and advances of INR 275.14 crores and INR 72.94 crores, respectively, and a nationwide network of 172 branches and more than 200 sub-offices.
