On 5th September 1920, under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, the Non-Cooperation movement was started by the Indian National Congress. The main aim of launching this movement is to obtain Poorna Swaraj through peace. Following the Chauri Chaura event in February 1922, Mahatma Gandhi decided to end the Non-Cooperation Movement. At the time of the Chauri Chaura event, India’s viceroy was Lord Reading.

In 1920, the Non-Cooperation Movement had its beginnings. Mahatma Gandhi was the founder of the Non-Cooperation Movement. The non-cooperation movement was a large-scale movement in which both the public and nationalists took part.
The campaign was to be peaceful and would involve Indians giving up their titles, boycotting government services, foreign goods, and elections, and ultimately not paying taxes.
