Answer – A. the digit which is having maximum positional weight

The MSD in the Decimal numbering system is nothing but the digit which is having maximum positional weight

Solution:

The detailed solution to the question, The MSD in the Decimal numbering system is nothing but provided here.

In all the number systems, there will be positional weights for every digit of the number. Therefore, based on the positional weight, the equivalent value of the number will change. If the decimal number consists of both integer part and fractional part, then it is known as a real number.

In the decimal numbering system, the positional weights from the decimal point will be positively increasing powers of 10 towards the left-hand side for the integer part. Similarly, the positional weights from the decimal point will be negatively increasing powers of 10 towards the right-hand side for the fractional part.

When we observe these positional weights in powers of 10, obviously the positional weights corresponding to the left-most digit and right-most digit are maximum and minimum respectively. Hence, the leftmost digit and right-most digit are called MSD and LSD respectively. The full form of MSD is the Most Significant Digit. Similarly, the full form of LSD is the Least Significant Digit. Therefore, Option (A) is the correct answer.
