The formula for the calculation of the Intelligence Quotient (IQ) is MA/CA x 100. The shorthand for intelligence quotient is IQ. The intelligence quotient (IQ) is a numerical indicator of a person’s intelligence. An individual has an IQ of 100 on average. The first practical IQ test was developed by French psychologist Alfred Binet and his collaborator Theodore Simon in 1905.

Calculation of Intelligence Quotient

  • The term intelligence quotient (IQ) refers to the ratio of mental age (MA) to chronological age (CA) multiplied by 100.
  • The updated version, known as the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale, was released in 1916. Several IQs were utilised in this test. It offered a formula to calculate a person’s IQ, which involves subtracting the person’s mental age from his or her chronological age and multiplying the result by 100.

IQ = mental age/chronological age x 100

In order to avoid fractions in the division result, in this case, 100 is multiplied.

  • MA must rise with CA over time in order for IQ to be stable.
  • This is accurate up until the age of 18 when intellectual capacity is typically reached.
  • As previously said, there was a misconception that intellectual aptitude began to wane after young adulthood.

Therefore, it is evident from the aforementioned arguments that the IQ calculation formula is MA/CA x 100.

Summary:

The formula for the calculation of the Intelligence Quotient (IQ) is – (a) CA/MA x 100 (b) MA/CA x 100 (c) CA/100 x MA (d) 100/MA x CA

MA/CA multiplied by 100 is the formula for calculating the intelligence quotient (IQ). IQ is a common abbreviation for intelligence quotient. The Binet-Simon Scale was the name of the original IQ test.
