The Distribution Mains are Designed for?
By BYJU'S Exam Prep

(A) Maximum Daily Demand
(B) Maximum Hourly Demand
(C) Average Daily Demand
(D) Maximum hourly demand on maximum day
The distribution mains are designed for maximum hourly demand on a maximum day. The supply sources (like wells) may be planned for maximum daily use or, on occasion, for average daily usage.
Purpose To Design Distribution Mains
- The filter and other treatment equipment, as well as the pipe mains (used to transport water from the source to the service reservoir), are built to handle the maximum daily draught.
- Pumps may be built with a reserve for breakdowns and repairs in addition to the daily maximum draught.
- The distribution system (to transport water from the service reservoir to the water taps) should be constructed to withstand the highest hourly draught of the highest day or the highest concurrent draught with fire, whichever is greater.
- The service reservoir is built to handle hourly fluctuations, fire requirements, and emergency reserves.
Summary:
The Distribution Mains are Designed for? (A) Maximum Daily Demand (B) Maximum Hourly Demand (C) Average Daily Demand (D) Maximum hourly demand on the maximum day
The distribution mains are built to handle the highest hourly demand on the highest day. The main reason for designing the distribution is to fulfill the supply of water from the reservoirs like wells, rivers, etc.
