TET is Mandatory to Become Senior Secondary Teacher.

Important Announcement: Candidates those are interested and eligible to teach as a secondary teacher in Government aided schools requires to qualify TET (may be TET & CTET).

As per the sources, it is concluded that it is mandatory to qualify the Teacher Eligibility Test to become eligible to appear in the exam for the recruitment of Class 11 & 12. As per the current scenario, only two exams are conducted i.e. Paper 1 & Paper 2 (same as CTET Paper 1 & 2, UPTET Paper 1 & 2).

  • TET Paper 1 is for the recruitment of teachers for classes 1st to 5th.
  • TET Paper 2 is for the recruitment of teachers for classes 6th to 8th or 10th.

Now TET Paper 3 is proposed to be conducted for the recruitment of teachers for classes 11th & 12th (Secondary or Senior Secondary classes).

 In context to TET-3 conducting body will be organizing exam for the academic session of 2021-2022. From 2023 onwards TET 3 will be made mandatory in a full-fledged mode.

 

As per the sources, teachers will have to qualify the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) to become a teacher in Secondary Schools.CTET & TET Exams to be extended for Class 12th Teachers as NCTE constitutes committee to develop Guidelines and Test Structure for TET & CTET exams for all the classes from Preparatory class to Class XII under New Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The conducting body will be organizing TET Level 3 which is referred to as third level examinations.  The outline for conducting the TET Level 3 will be released soon by the Board for the academic session of 2021-2022.

It is important to note that TET will be mandatory to become a teacher from 2023 sessions. Candidates planning to start their career in the teaching now have to first qualify the CTET or TET exam. Thereafter, they can apply for teaching vacancies available.

National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has decided to extend the conduct of the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) & Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) to all the levels of School Education from Preparatory class to Class XII under the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020. In this regard, the NCTE has constituted a Committee to develop the all-inclusive Guidelines and Test Structure or Components to extend the TET and CTET exams to Class 12th Teachers. The decision is aligned with the NEP 2020. Candidates had to give a written test to qualify the examinations.  However, after this amendment, teachers have to clear TET exam first.

This will be followed by:

  • The written test for teacher recruitment,
  • Assessment of educational qualification,
  • Interview and
  • Teaching Performance.

Read below information regarding Paper 1 & Paper 2. Similarly, It is expected that Paper 3 will follow the same pattern.

The CTET examination is conducted by CBSE. To apply for the  CTET exam, candidates must have graduation degree from any recognized university. The exam takes place as an offline pen paper-based examination. As per previous year CTET notification, There will be around 150 questions in both Paper 1 and Paper 2 respectively. Each question will carry 04 options wherein only one option is the correct answer. Every question carries 01 marks and there is no negative marking in UP TET examinations. On qualifying the UP TET exam, candidates will get TET certificate. Recently NCTE announced that the TET certificate is going to remain valid for a lifetime and not just for a few years.

Applicants should have clarity of the exam they are going to appear in CTET for the first time. The first and foremost thing is to understand, what makes one eligible for the certain exam. 

CTET 2021 Educational Qualification:

Here's are the educational qualification combinations for both paper-1 and paper-2. A candidate must have one of the following educational qualifications in order to fill the application form and sit in the examination.

CTET Eligibility Criteria for Primary Teacher (Paper -1):

  • Senior Secondary (or it's equivalent) with at least 50% marks Passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education)* OR
  • Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
  • Graduation with B.Ed passed or appearing Candidates.

CTET Eligibility Criteria for Upper Primary Teacher (Paper - 2):

  • Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed). OR
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1- year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard. OR
  • Senior Secondary (or it's equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed. OR
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)

Note: B.Ed Candidates can apply for both Paper -1 & 2.

Qualifying Marks for CTET 2021
