Success Story: Romesh Singh, IBPS PO 2016

By Neeraj Mishra|Updated : April 2nd, 2016

Hello Friends,

I am Romesh Singh, did chemical Engineering in 2010 and a general category student. Today, I am sharing a part of my life and struggle that is known to only a few handfuls of people.

I had a decent job at a private company but the growth which I desired for, was not up for taking there. So in the year 2012 after becoming disillusioned with that Job, I put in my papers.

MBA seemed like a very nice option back then, and so I started my preparation for MBA Entrance Exams. I cleared CAT and CMAT both with a decent percentile but the

ghosts of my past came to haunt me back then

Due to very less marks in 10th and 12th, I was denied even a call up from Top B-Schools of India.

I felt really dejected but after looking at both the pros and cons of getting a business degree, decided Otherwise as an investment of 15 Lakhs would not guarantee me anything due to my aforementioned ghosts of the past.

After taking some time to think about my career plans, I decided to pursue a career in Banking Industry.

As you all might have heard,

The first pancake is always spoiled.

It was no different for me.

The first Exam that I appeared for was SBI PO 2014. I could not clear the written of this exam. RRB PO followed next and the result was still the same.

After introspecting for a while I found where it all went so wrong for me and from then on I started devoting time in improving the relatively weaker section which I had found out.

After that I appeared for

  • RBI Assistant 2014
  • IBPS PO 2014
  • SBI Assistant
  • SBI Associate PO
  • SBI Associate Assistant
  • LIC AAO (North East Region)

I cleared the written for all the above mentioned exams, but was dinged in the Interview time and again. Same thing happened to me in SBI PO 2015 which made me realize that I need to put even more effort.

I also pledged to myself that I will try to maximize my score in the written examination so that even if I do get just the passing marks in Interview round, I would clear the process.

Finally, I have been rewarded for my patience, perseverance and persistence as I cleared the IBPS PO 2015.

I had a score of 109.75 and was awarded another 55 marks in the interview which brought my consolidated score to 54.90 and I have been allotted IDBI Bank.

I am very much pleased with how things have lined up for me in this long run of events.  I would like to conclude by saying that

Failures are Pillars of Success

And never feel depressed in this long Journey,

though sometimes things would not fall in place

but eventually with all the hard work everything would fit in the final Jigsaw of Life.

Cheers!

Romesh Singh
