Instructional Planning and ICT, Study Notes, Material – CTET Paper 1 & 2

In this article, we should read related to the Instructional Planning and ICT, Important for the CTET Paper-1 & 2.

As we all know the classroom is a process where all students involved in the learning process through the teacher’s guidance.  And for this guidance and smooth functioning of the teaching-learning process, proper planning is required so that effective functioning of school takes place.

Classroom planning is the process of management of student’s behaviour. Classroom planning not only manages the behaviour of the student and instructional processes but also helps a teacher to keep himself/herself on track while teaching and therefore allowing him to teach more and manage less in the classroom environment.

Instructional Planning: 

Instructional planning is a process of deciding what to teach and how to teach during the teaching-learning process. Instructional planning helps the teacher to construct goals, objectives, and instructional and assessment methodology for the classroom. It is systematic planning that helps in developing, evaluating, and managing the instructional process during the classroom process.

PRINCIPLES OF INSTRUCTIONAL PLANNING:

  • Instructional planning is important for understanding the basis of the course in the context of the educational institution.
  • To determine what content to be included in the course concerning set objectives.
  • To complete the subject matter at the specified time.

Types of instructional planning:

1. Course plan: A course plan is a plan of instruction in which planning of the whole content can be done before the commencement of the course. The course plan provides the details of the content, skills, and sometimes, values to be taught for the entire course. It is a long-range teacher guide.

2. Unit Plan: After the course plan, the unit plan can be prepared by the teacher. A unit plan consists of many lessons and is longer than a lesson plan. A unit plan has five sections i.e., introduction, objectives, contents, hints for teachers, and evaluation. The topic is the smallest unit of a unit plan.

3. Lesson Plan: A lesson plan is a teacher’s plan for teaching an individual lesson. The lesson plan is the guide of the teacher which includes the aims, objectives, subject matter, materials, devices to be used, etc. during the teaching-learning process. A lesson plan also helps in deciding the teaching methods and techniques and evaluation for achieving the desired results.

Information and Communication Technology: 

As we all know that education is a very important aspect of our society that can not be ignored by our society. Education is the only tool that should raise the standard of an individual as well as our society. In the modern trend of today, everything becomes global or technical all sectors from banking to retail shops now depend upon ICT for performing their transaction so there is a need of updating our education system and for this purpose the National curriculum framework 2005 (NCF 2005) has highlighted the importance of ICT in school education.

ICT stands for Information and Communication Technology. ICT is a technology that includes gathering, processing, storing, and presenting data.

Definition of ICT:

“ICT is the diverse set of technological tools and resources used to communicate and to create, disseminate, store and manage resources”.

Principles of ICT:

1. ICT is used for achieving educational goals and objectives.

2. To use ICT for the enhancement of students’ knowledge and skills.

3. To focus on the development of the teacher, their training, and their current support.

4. Exploring alternative solutions for a problem in the teaching-learning process.

5. To make the teaching-learning process more effective by using audio-visual aids which help in the development of all the domains of the child.

The Scope of ICT:

Nowadays the scope of information Communication Technology become so wide because it is a global world where all the sectors depend upon technology for performing their business, day-to-day activities, etc.  

1. Nowadays students from villages can also access information through various modes like television, smartphones, etc.

2. With the trend of online examination, manpower and mistakes can be reduced.

3. LCD projectors can be used for making the teaching-learning process effective as well as interesting.

4. Television broadcast is the biggest source of spreading information to students.

Types of ICT tools in education:

1. Informative tools – These are the tools that provide information in the form of videos, graphics, sounds, etc. These tools are the Internet, Network Virtual Drive, Intranet systems, Homepage, etc.

2. Resignation devices/situating tools – These are the tools that provide the environment of context and the occurrence of a situation. For example, CD-ROM, etc.

3. Constructive tools – These are those tools that construct the knowledge of the student and also visualize their understandings. For example MS Word, PowerPoint, FrontPage, Adobe Photoshop, Lego Mindstorms, etc.

4. Communicative tools –These tools help in effective communication between teachers or students or between students outside of the physical barrier classroom.  Examples of such tools as e-mail, SMS, etc.

5. Collaborative tools – These are those tools that can be used for making online collaborative projects these tools draw a realistic option for distributed group work. Example of these tools is discussion boards, etc.
