TNPSC Group 1 prelims exam pattern is released for one exam. It is the primary exam based on which candidates are chosen for the Mains exam. Hence, candidates should thoroughly check the TNPSC Group 1 paper pattern for the prelims exam and prepare well to score maximum marks.

TNPSC Group 1 Mains Exam Pattern

TNPSC Group 1 Mains exam pattern is provided below for candidates to take into account before they start preparing. Mains exam consists of 4 papers out of which Paper 1 is qualifying in nature. Candidates can read more about TNPSC Group 1 exam pattern for Mains exam below.

  • Mains exam is descriptive in nature and will be held in offline mode.
  • It has four papers, Paper 1 is Tamil Eligibility Test and Paper 2, 3 and 4 are General Studies designed to test candidates' awareness across various domains relevant to the recruitment.
  • Paper 1 will be designed according to SSLC standard whereas other papers will be designed according to Degree level.
  • Paper 1 consists of 100 marks and Paper 2, 3 and 4 consist of 250 marks each.
  • The time duration for all four papers is 3 hours each.
  • Paper 1 i.e. Tamil Eligibility Test is qualifying in nature and its marks will not be taken into account for the ranking.
  • Only candidates who score a minimum of 40% in Paper 1 will be evaluated for the other three papers.

TNPSC Group 1 Interview

TNPSC Group 1 Interview is the final stage of the selection process. the interview consists of 100 marks and is an important component of the exam. Candidates who qualify the Prelims and Mains exams will appear in the interview, after which the final merit list will be prepared. There is no specific TNPSC Group 1 exam pattern or syllabus prescribed for the interview, however, candidates should ensure to stay up to date with current events as they might get asked about them.

TNPSC Group 1 Exam Pattern FAQs

  • TNPSC Group 1 exam pattern is released for Prelims and Mains exam. The prelims exam has one paper worth 300 marks whereas the Mains exam is divided into 4 papers out of 750 marks for three papers are considered while making the merit list.

  • TNPSC Group 1 exam duration is 3 hours for Prelims Exam and 12 hours for Mains exam with each paper being allotted 3 hours each. No time limit is specified for the interview.

  • There is no negative marking in the TNPSC Group 1 2022 exam.
