TNPSC Group 1 is one of the most popular recruitments held by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission. The new notification for the year 2023 is expected to be released in August as per the latest annual planner. Last year the notification had released for 92 vacancies. TNPSC Group 1 exam is the Combined Civil Services Examination-I (Group-I Services) that is held annually in Tamil Nadu to recruit Group 1 Officers in the state. Candidates who have a degree in any discipline and fall within the age limit of 21 years to 39 years can apply online for it.

The selection of candidates for the TNPSC Group 1 exam shall be done through three stages, Prelims, Mains, and Interview. However, the Prelims is qualifying in nature whose marks will not be added to prepare the merit list. Only the marks obtained by a candidate in Mains and Interview will be the deciding factor for the merit list.

TNPSC Group 1 Notification 2023

Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) will release the TNPSC Group 1 notification for the Combined Civil Services Examination-I (Group-I Services) in August 2023. Thereafter, the candidates will be able to apply for the posts of Deputy Collector, Assistant Commissioner, and other distinguished Group 1 posts. The exam is expected to be conducted in November 2023.

In addition to releasing the notification, TNPSC will also release the TNPSC Group 1 exam date. The candidates will be appointed to Group 1 posts through the merit list that shall be prepared on the combined scores of Mains and Interview.

TNPSC Group 1 Exam 2023: Latest Updates

TNPSC Group 1 notification 2023 will soon be officially released by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) for Combined Civil Services Examination-I (Group-I Services) in August 2023. Candidates who are Graduates and have crossed the age of 21 years can apply online for the TNPSC Group 1 exam. Interested candidates should ensure to apply for the exam within the given date.

The TNPSC Group 1 exam 2023 is expected to be held in November 2023. However, the TN PCS Group 1 recruitment 2022 is still in process and the Mains exam will be held in the month of June 2023. The exact date has not been revealed yet by the authorities but the applicants must start preparing for the same.

The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission invites applications for the Combined Civil Services -I Examination (Group-I Services) every year. Interested candidates are required to apply online for the Group 1 exam as soon as the notification is released. As per the revised TNPSC Annual Planner, there will be 32 TNPSC Group 1 vacancies in 2023 recruitment. TNPSC Group 1 Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the Group 1 exam, candidates need to make sure they fulfill the TNPSC eligibility as described below. The eligibility criteria for Group 1 posts include age limit, educational qualification, and the physical requirement for a few selected posts.

TNPSC Group 1 Age Limit

TNPSC Group 1 Educational Qualification

As per the Group 1 eligibility, interested candidates need to possess the required TNPSC Group 1 qualification in order to be eligible. As per the Group 1 eligibility criteria, a candidate must hold a graduate degree from a recognized university apart from the given preferential qualifications.

Moreover, TNPSC Group 1 eligibility also states that the applicant should have proficient knowledge of the Tamil language. Final-year candidates may also apply for the exam. However, such candidates must be in possession of original certificates while uploading documents for the Mains exam.

TNPSC Group 1 Selection Process

The TNPSC Group 1 selection process is simple and consists of three stages. To qualify and become a Group 1 Officer, candidates need to appear and crack the following three stages of the exam.

  • Stage 1- Prelims: Qualifying in nature that is used for the purpose of screening out candidates.
  • Stage 2- Mains: The marks obtained in this phase are considered for the final selection. These marks decide the rank and hence the posts allotted to a candidate.
  • Stage 3- Interview: The purpose of the interview is to assess the true and authentic self of an individual. It is to check whether the candidate is suitable for a career in civil services and serves society with zeal.

TNPSC Group 1 Exam Pattern

TNPSC Group 1 exam pattern is divided into the following two major categories, Prelims, and Mains. The Prelims paper pattern and marking scheme differ from that of the Mains exam. Getting to know the exam pattern is one of the first important steps before starting the exam preparation. There are two sections in the TNPSC Group 1 Prelims & four sections in the Mains. The Prelims exam is qualifying in nature and carries a weightage of 300 marks.

TNPSC Group 1 Mains Exam Pattern

Once the candidates clear the Preliminary examination, they are asked to appear in the Mains exam. The TNPSC Group 1 exam pattern for Mains is one step higher as compared to the Prelims paper pattern. It consists of 4 papers out of which the first paper is qualifying in nature that tests the Tamil fluency of the candidates.

  • A candidate should secure at least 40% in Mains Paper 1 so that Papers 2, 3, and 4 can be evaluated. 
  • The marks obtained in TNPSC Group 1 Mains- Paper 1 will not be taken into account for determining the rank of the candidate.
