SSC GD Constable Exam Overview

Staff Selection Commission conducts the SSC GD Constable exam to recruit the prospective aspirants for the General Duty posts in various divisions. The full form of SSC GD Constable is Staff Selection Commission General Duty, which is a type of recruitment drive conducted by SSC and developed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to select candidates for General Duty Constables in the para-military forces. The forces for recruitment of Constables (General Duty) are:

• Border Security Force (BSF)
• Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)
• Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)
• Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP)
• Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)
• National Investigation Agency (NIA)
• Secretariat Security Force (SSF)

The SSC GD admit card will be released 10-15 days before the examination. Candidates who are eligible for the SSC GD exam should note that the admit card is mandatory to carry by the candidates on the examination day. Eligible candidates must go through all the important information regarding the admit card before the examination. Successfully registered can download their SSC GD admit card by entering their login credentials.

To be noted, the officials release admit card for each tier separately. The admit card for PET will be issued to the candidates who have qualified the CBT exam. The candidates have to download their admit card from the official website only as no hardcopy or soft copy would be sent to them. It is an essential document to enter the exam center and appear in the examination. The candidates must carry one government identity proof with the admit card to prove their identity while appearing for the exam.

The apply online link for SSC GD 2023-24 is activated along with the release of the notification PDF. The commission has opened the registration window from 24 November to 31 December 2023. Steps to Apply Online for SSC GD Constable 2024

• To apply online for SSC Ground Duty Constable 2023-24, visit the official website of SSC.
• Click on the “Register or Login” link.
• Now click the "GD-Constable" link.
• Submit your valid details in the application form.

SSC GD Constable Physical Efficiency Test

After qualifying the CBT 1 exam, candidates will have to appear for the Physical Efficiency Test where they will be shortlisted on the basis of their fitness. SSC GD Medical Test Details

Those who will sail through all the stages of the SSC GD Constable exam will be asked to appear for the medical test where their eyesight will be tested. 

Applicants who fulfil the SSC GD age limit, must go through and understand the SSC GD selection process in a thorough manner. Also, note the exam pattern and understand it before the preparation. The selection process for SSC GD 2024 is based on 3 major factors which we have explained below:

• Written Examination or Computer-Based Test: It is an objective type paper carrying 100 marks. Please note that the exam duration for computer-based examination (CBE) is 90 minutes. There will be a total of 4 sections and each section will carry 25 marks. 
• Physical Standards Test & Physical Efficiency Test: The physical standard test or PET includes the race for both males and females. Candidates who will pass the PET will be sent for the final medical test round which is the third and final stage of selection.
• Medical Test:  After completing the PET successfully, you will have to submit the reports for your medical fitness which includes, visual and physical fitness. 

Candidates should be aware of the SSC GD Syllabus along with its subject-wise important topics. The syllabus is the pivotal step of the preparation for the aspirants as it cognizant them of the important topics and the sections carrying the maximum weightage to walk down the path of success. The entire curriculum of SSC GD 2024 is divided into 4 sections which are General Awareness, English/Hindi, General Intelligence & Reasoning, and Elementary Mathematics. The Staff Selection Commission has announced the total number of new vacancies for the SSC GD along with its official notification on 20 March 2023. As per the SSC GD notification, the commission rolled out 50187 constable vacancies for both male and female candidates this year. Of which 44439 posts are available for male candidates and 5573 for female candidates. Knowing the number of vacancies gives an insight into the cut-off as both are related. If the number of vacancies is higher, the cut off will be less. On the contrary, if there are fewer vacancies, the cut off for SSC GD will be higher. SSC GD Vacancy for Female

The commission announced the 2847 vacancies for female candidates. Of which 1230 is for the General category, 616 for OBC, 410 for SC, and 318 for ST candidates.
