SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern 2021:

The descriptive test will be conducted for those candidates who all are able to secure minimum cut-off marks in SSC CHSL 2021 Tier 1 Exam. The cutoff marks for different categories will be released by SSC with the declaration of marks. Here are some important points on CHSL Tier 2 exam pattern:

How to write a good essay?

Writing a good essay is an art. There are the six most important elements which make an essay a good essay. Let us learn these aspects one by one to maximise our score in SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam. 

  • Word Limit: While writing an essay in the exam, try to write it in the word limit prescribed in the question. ForSSC CHSL the word limit is (225 - 275) words. Candidates are awarded negative marks for exceeding the word limit. 
  • Clean Copy: It is vital to write the essay in simple handwriting. The reader should be able to read the essay easily and not get confused. Also, students should keep their copies clean and with fewer errors. 
  • Use of quotation: Using famous quotations or saying of important personalities and leaders would get you good brownie points. These quotations can be used at the start of the introduction or in the conclusion. The use of quotations makes an essay more interesting. 
  • Idiom/Vocabulary: Using good words and idioms helps writers express their thoughts more lucidly. It shows the language skills and gets you extra points.
  • Format: An ideal essay is always written in a proper format. The format of an essay is "Introduction- Body - Conclusion". 
    • Introduction: An introduction of an essay must be interesting that can catch readers' attention and prompt them to read the whole essay. Candidates can start the introduction with some quotation, saying, or some famous expression. An introduction should give an overview of a topic and introduce the topic. It should not be in too much detail. 
    • Body: This is the main segment of the essay, wherein all the aspects of a particular topic should be covered. 
    • Conclusion: The conclusion should be written in a positive tone. In this segment, a writer can conclude the whole topic. 
  • Grammatical error: The main purpose of the SSC CHSL Tier 2 descriptive paper is to check the language skills of aspirants. It is very important that there should not be any grammatical mistakes in the essay. Make sure that the sentences are following the subject-verb agreement and following the grammar rules. In addition to that, take care of spelling mistakes and proper punctuation too. The last 5 minutes of the exam should be devoted to proofreading. 

The aim of letter writing is to inspect how well the candidates are able to communicate themselves with the other to whom the letter is addressed. To prepare for this section, first and foremost, you should be aware of the type of letters that are asked.

SSC CHSL Tier 2 : Letter/ Application Writing

Here are some quick tips for you to score better in the Application/ letter-writing section of the SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam:

  • Make sure that your content is left aligned while writing.
  • Ensure proper spacing between salutations, date, subject, addresses, etc.
  • Do not miss out on the salutation or the greeting. You should always begin your letter with it.
  • For formal letters, you can go for Respected Sir/ Ma’am or simply Sir/ Ma’am/ Madam. In the case of formal letters, informal greetings such as Dear or Hello can be used.
  • In the introductory paragraph of your letter, try to give the gist or the prime reason for writing that letter and then start with the main body of the letter. Make sure that you give the conclusion of the letter in a separate paragraph.
  • While concluding formal letters, you can go for ‘Yours faithfully/ Sincerely’ etc or ‘Sincerely Yours’.
  • Make sure that you do not write your name in the letter. Try to prefer ABC or XYZ wherever required, unless specifically asked in the exam.

Read Newspaper Effectively:

Everyone knows that newspapers are important and we should read them regularly. But are we actually reading it in a proper way? Most of us skip the long economic articles or articles on any social issues. We like to read catchy headlines and do not look for details.

So, first of all, you should try to read these good articles and if possible, try to make pointers in your diary. You may get any similar topic in your SSC CHSL Essay Writing. Reading any Hindi/English newspaper is as per your choice. But it must also be in accord with the language opted by you. If you tend to write your CHSL in Hindi then go for Hindi otherwise English. This will help you build up your vocabulary.

Avoid Spelling Mistakes:

For spelling mistakes, you will have to write at least one essay and one letter/application daily. Pick any topic of your interest and check for any spelling mistakes. Check the sentence formation. Practice will automatically improve your writing skills and your speed. Try to write on a paper because CHSL Tier-II is an offline exam. If you will type on your system/mobile and practice, this will not help you in improving the speed.

Grammatical Errors:
