  1. Line standard
  2. End standard
  3. Line and end standard
  4. None of the above

Slip gauge is End standard. Standards for precise length measurement are slip gauges or gauge blocks.

A mechanism for creating precise lengths is known as gauge blocks, often referred to as gauge blocks, Johansson gauges, slip gauges, or Jo blocks. A metal or ceramic block that has been precisely honed and lapped to a certain thickness is the individual gauge block. Sets of blocks with various standard lengths are available as gauge blocks. The blocks are stacked to provide the necessary length while in use (or height).

The fact that gauge blocks can be connected with relatively little dimensional ambiguity is a crucial characteristic. The blocks’ ultra-flat surfaces adhere to one another through a sliding procedure known as wringing.

Line standards:

Line Standard is the term used when the length measured is stated as the separation of two lines. Example: Measuring scales

End standard:

End standards are used when the length measured is stated as the separation of two parallel sides. Example: Micrometers, Slip gauges.

Slip gauge:

  • These gauges are produced in sets and are constructed of several blocks of high-grade steel with minimal thermal expansion that have been hardened.
  • The rectangular blocks of zirconium oxide or stabilised and hardened high-grade steel (ZrO2) are slip gauges.
  • The process of connecting slip gauges while increasing size is wringing.

Summary:-

Slip Gauge is 1. Line standard 2. End standard 3. Line and end standard 4. None of the above

End standard is a slip gauge. Slip gauge or gauges is end standard for precise measurement of length.
