To enhance your command over English vocabulary, you must learn new words regularly. Now, the question arises, how you can strengthen your vocabulary skills. For this, it is necessary that you improve your reading habit by going through newspapers on a daily basis and look up the new words. This exercise will also help you understand the context of the sentences.

  • Use in a Sentence: A film you've watched can spark off a new idea.

 3Word: Overwhelm (पराजित करना)

  • Pronunciation: oh-ver-hwelm/ओवर्ह्वेल्म
  • Part of Speech: Verb
  • Meaning: a. have a strong emotional effect on.
    b. be too strong for; overpower.
  • Synonyms: conquer, inundate
  • Antonyms: inspire, amplify
  • Usage in a Sentence: After the teacher's lecture, the students began to overwhelm her with questions.

4. Word: Draft (लिखना,दस्ता,नक्षा,ढांचा बनाना)

  • Pronunciation: ड्रैफ्ट/drahft
  • Part of Speech: Noun, Verb, Adjective
  • Meaning:
    a. a piece of text, a formal suggestion, or a drawing in its original state, often containing the main ideas and intentions but not the developed form (Noun)
    b. (of drinks such as beer) stored in and served from large containers, especially barrels (Adjective)
    c. to write down a document for the first time, including the main points but not all the details (Verb)
  • Synonyms: outline, sketch, design, formulate
  • Antonyms: discharge, abandon, delivery
  • Usage in a sentence:
    a. Arpit, draft a proposal for the project and we can discuss it at the meeting.

5. Word: Throng (जमाव,भीड़ लगाना)

  • Pronunciation: थ्रॉंग/thrawng
  • Part of Speech: Noun, Verb
  • Meaning:
    a. a crowd or a large group of people
    b. to be or go somewhere in very large numbers
  • Synonyms: crowd, swarm, pack, flock, horde
  • Antonyms: few, empty, dismiss, take apart
  • Usage in a sentence: The narrow streets were thronged with summer visitors.

6. Word: Cleavage (चीरना)

  • Pronunciation: क्लीवज/klee-vij

  • Meaning
    a. long and careful consideration or discussion.
    b. slow and careful movement or thought.
  • Synonyms: reflection, consideration, thought, contemplation
  • Antonyms: alacrity, haste
  • Usage in a Sentence: He spoke with deliberation, but often in vivid metaphors and with literary references.

8. Word: Enshrine (प्रतिष्ठापित करना)

  • Pronunciation: en-shrahyn/ एन्श्राइन
  • Part of Speech: Verb
  • Meaning
    a. place (a revered or precious object) in an appropriate receptacle.
    b. preserve (a right, tradition, or idea) in a form that ensures it will be protected and respected.
  • Synonyms: sanctify, consecrate, exalt
  • Antonyms: defile, desecrate, disrespect, debase, degrade
  • Usage in a Sentence: Some teachers tend to enshrine their personal preferences as sacred rules of English grammar.

9. Word: Relish (आनंद लेना)

  • Meaning:
    a. great enjoyment. (Noun)
    b. liking for or pleasurable anticipation of something. (Noun)
    c. enjoy greatly. (Verb)
  • Synonyms: enjoy, savour, zest, love, delight, enjoyment
  • Antonyms: dislike, hate, displeasure, detest, disinclination
  • Usage in a Sentence: I don't relish the idea of working late tonight.

10. Word: Legacy (विरासत)

  • Pronunciation: leg-uh-see/लेगसी
  • Part of Speech: Noun, Adjective
  • Meaning:
    a. (Law) a gift of property, especially personal property, as money, by will; a bequest (Noun)
    b. anything handed down from the past, as from an ancestor or predecessor (Noun)
    c. an applicant to or student at a school that was attended by his or her parent (Noun)
    d. of or relating to old or outdated computer hardware, software, or data that, while still functional, does not work well with up-to-date systems (Adjective)
  • Synonyms: heritage, inheritance, bequest
  • Antonyms: dispossession, declamation, abnegation
  • Usage in a sentence: An elderly cousin had left her a small legacy.

After much deliberation by the village senior members, they finally drafted an agreement in view of this covid 19 pandemic stating that the legacy of placing a deity in temple will be in presence of fewer people only as this is an ancient rituals enshrined by our ancestors and cannot be avoided. The people will be allowed to visit in cleavage and limitations are provided as per day visit.
