What is an Apprentice?

An apprentice is someone who is willing to learn certain skills for a specific job at a lower wage than typical. He is responsible for completing all work assigned by his/her superiors by the deadline. The majority of apprentice training takes place while the apprentice is employed by an employer (such as SBI) who assists the apprentice in learning their trade or vocation in exchange for continuous work for a set amount of time once they have attained the required outcomes.

SBI Apprentice Job Profile

Following is the work of an SBI Apprentice during his training period. Check the details of the work profile below.

1.Candidates will work on a variety of assignments to gain a better understanding of the financial system at the grassroots level. It’s usually classified as an administrative position.

2. The main goal of an SBI Apprentice is to provide consumers with after-sale services.

3. They will be in charge of analyzing the completed assignment.

4. They will be in charge of all responsibilities allocated to them by their superiors.

5. They are not bank employees, but rather trainees.

Please note that this is only an apprenticeship program. So this is not permanent employment in the bank.

What is the Salary or Stipend given to Apprentices?

Apprentices are entitled to a monthly stipend of Rs.15000/- for a one-year commitment period. Other allowances or benefits are not available to apprentices.

Is SBI Apprentice a Permanent Job?

The answer to the most-awaited question is ‘NO’. SBI Apprentice is not a permanent job. Candidates will be hired after the complete selection process for a period of three years during which they will be given the stipend as mentioned by the SBI. The bank will not keep any employees after the training time to do ordinary tasks in the future. SBI offers an internship program that allows them to gain experience in the banking business while learning new skills.

What if a Candidate Gets a New Job In between the SBI Apprentice Training period?

The bond or contract between an apprentice and SBI is not mentioned at all in the official notification. If a candidate passes any other banking or government exam during his or her apprenticeship training, he or she may resign from his or her apprenticeship. SBI makes no mention of such a restriction during the training period.

So if you think you want to learn something new in the banking industry then must join SBI Apprentice as a career option. Later, you can keep preparing for other jobs too.

Career Growth/Promotion of SBI Apprentice

There is a probation period of 1 year as mentioned in the official notification. No apprentices will be retained by the bank for permanent roles, thus makes it a temporary role for the job seekers. But everything candidates will learn in this 1 year training period will help them secure a job in the banking industry. Candidates with 1 year of internship certificate or experience can easily serve in the private sector banks. This experience will be counted there and if you crack any other exam, you will have the option to join there.

Also in the official notification, SBI has mentioned that those who complete the apprentice program with SBI will be given relaxation in the SBI Clerk recruitment. So this is an excellent opportunity.
