Will the RRB NTPC marks of CBT 1 be Added in CBT 2?

Before answering the question, let us understand the selection process followed by the RRB to select candidates to appear for RRB NTPC CBT 2

RRB NTPC Selection Process for Selecting Candidates for RRB NTPC CBT 2

RRB NTPC CBT 1 Exam is qualifying in nature. The normalized score of 1st Stage CBT shall be used for shortlisting candidates for 2nd Stage CBT as per their merit

There are two important aspects of the selection process for Candidates at RRB NTPC CBT 1 Level to appear for RRB NTPC CBT 2

RRB NTPC Minimum Qualifying Marks

RRB NTPC minimum qualifying marks vary for different categories i.e., it is 40% for general and EWS, 30% for OBC & SC category, and 25 % for ST category. The term ‘Qualifying’ clears that the scores for the stage I CBT of the RRB NTPC exam will not be a part of the final merit score. It does not mean that there will not be any cut-off for this stage. Of course, there will be a cut-off score which an individual has to clear.

Please Note: These percentages of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2% for PwBD candidates in case of a shortage of PwBD candidates against vacancies reserved for them.

RRB NTPC Normalization Process

Also, Since the exam would be conducted in different shifts the difficulty level of the different shifts might vary and the one with the easiest shift will get benefited by it the most but it is not so, there is a separate process which the board follows and that procedure includes normalisation. The raw scores across different shifts are normalised in order to bring them at par with the other shifts. The railway recruitment uses a normalisation formula which is different for different organisations.

Coming back to our question, No RRB NTPC CBT 1 marks will not be added to the final merit list of the RRB NTPC Exam.

So, the crux of the RRB NTPC exam CBT stage I is as follows:

  • It is qualifying in nature i.e., the marks do not add up to the final merit list
  • There will be a cut-off score for this stage
  • There is a certain percentage for each category for CBT stage 1 of the RRB NTPC exam
  • The raw scores obtained by the candidates in different shifts are subject to normalisation

RRB is expected to release the RRB NTPC final answer key 2021 along with the RRB NTPC CBT 1 Cut-off 2021 very soon. Stay Tuned for the latest updates.
