2. Sanjay Khanna appointed as CEO of American Express India
- American Express Banking Corp has appointed Sanjay Khanna as the chief executive officer and country manager for India.
- Responsibilities: For increasing growth across the organization’s consumer and commercial businesses.
- Prior to this role, Khanna has held many leadership positions in the company including head of global financial operations, India centre lead for finance and chairman of the American Express India Pvt Ltd (AEIPL) legal entity board.

3. MeitY Startup Hub joins hands with Meta to support XR technology startups
- Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Startup Hub has collaborated with Meta to launch a programme to support and accelerate XR technology startups across India.
- The programme was launched by the Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
- The MeitY Startup Hub is a national platform that focuses on promoting technology innovation, start-ups, and the creation of intellectual properties.

4. HDFC Bank issues first Electronic Bank Guarantee of India
- HDFC Bank has become the first bank in India to issue an Electronic Bank Guarantee (e-BG) in partnership with National E-Governance Services Limited (NeSL).
- The new e-BG will eliminate the paper based and time-consuming process.
- It can be processed, stamped, verified and delivered instantly with enhanced security.
- HDFC Bank will migrate to eBG platform completely in order to expedite the issuance of BGs for customers.

- Axis Bank has partnered with the Square Yards to launch a joint branded home buyer ecosystem named “Open Door”.

6. Retail inflation surges up to 7% in August 2022
- According to the new data, the Retail inflation has been increased up to 7% in August 2022 from 6.71% in July 2022.
- Reason: Due to higher food prices
- The consumer price index (CPI)-based inflation is above the Reserve Bank’s decided level of 6% for the eighth month in a row.
- The inflation in food basket was 7.62% in August 2022, was up from 6.69% in July and 3.11% in August 2021.
- RBI has maintained its inflation forecast for 2022-23 at 6.7%.

7. AN Shamseer elected as Kerala Assembly Speaker
- The Kerala Assembly has elected CPM's Thalassery MLA AN Shamseer as the 24th Speaker of the Kerala Legistlature.
- He defeated UDF MLA Anwar Sadath by 56 votes in the election.
- UDF candidate and Aluva MLA Anwar Sadath secured 40 votes against the LDF nominee who received 96 votes.
- Deputy Speaker Chittayam Gopakumar headed the election procedures.
- The speaker post was vacant after MB Rajesh, who became Minister of excise and Local Self Government departments.

8. Sikkim to host Ranji Trophy matches for the first time
- Sikkim will host Ranji trophy matches for the first time in December 2022 at the Mining Cricket Ground near Rangpo.
- The state will welcome three northeast teams i.e. Mizoram, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.
- The decision was taken by BCCI, that will act as a game-changer in cricket’s promotion in Sikkim.
- Along with Ranji Trophy matches, Sikkim will also play two Cooch Behar Trophy matches, and three Col CK Nayudu Trophy matches at Mining Cricket Ground.

9. Max Verstappen wins 2022 Italian Grand Prix
- Red Bull F1 driver, Max Verstappen has secured title of Formula One Italian Grand Prix 2022.
- Ferrari Driver, Charles Leclerc has secured second spot in the Grand Prix, while George Russell (Mercedes) placed third in the event.
- Lewis Hamilton (Seven times world champion) has also raced and finished in the fifth position, while Nyck de Vries finished ninth in his F1 debut.

10. RBI sells $13 billion in August to hold rupee at 80
- The Reserve Bank of India is estimated to have sold about $13 billion in the spot market in August 2022.
- Reason: To defend the rupee from falling further against the US dollar
- A majority of India's foreign exchange reserves is held in US dollar-denominated currency while the rest comes from investment in non-dollar assets.
- This is the highest monthly currency market intervention so far in 2022-23 as the central bank is said to be defending the psychological mark of 80.

12. Nayara Energy appoints Prasad K Panicker as Chairman
- Nayara Energy has appointed Prasad K Panicker, Director and Head of Refinery as the Chairman of the company with effect from October 3, 2022.
- He will take on this role from Charles Anthony (Tony) Fountain who has served the company for five years.
- In his new role, he will deploy his technological experience and knowledge of the local Indian market to lead Nayara Energy.
- He will also continue with his leadership role as Head of Refinery.

13. Chief Justice Munishwar Bhandari appointed as chairman of PMLA
- The Centre appoints Chief Justice of Madras High Court, Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari as the Chairman of the Appellate Tribunal under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act
- The post of the Chairperson of the Tribunal was vacant since September 2019.
- The order was issued by the Department of Revenue under the Ministry of Finance.
- The Tribunal for Forfeiture of Property under the SAFEMA and the PMLA Appellate Tribunal were merged in 2016 through the Finance Act, 2016.

14. DBS partners withSandbox to launch 'DBS BetterWorld'
- DBS Bank in partnership with Sandbox will create the ‘DBS BetterWorld’ in the metaverse world to showcase the importance of building a better and more sustainable world.
- Metaverse is a virtual 3D animated world where users can navigate and interact using avatars, and NFTs, among others.
- In India, at the present, only Union Bank of India (UBI) has a presence in the metaverse world.
- Sandbox is a subsidiary of Animoca and it is in the business of development of metaverse.
