Product layout is also known as line layout. Line Layout refers to a production system in which workstations and equipment are arranged along with a production line. For example, in the manufacturing process of a car, the car body goes from one stage of production to the next stage. A work unit is usually moved along the line (not necessarily a geometric line, but a set of interconnected work stations) by a conveyor. Each workstation on the line runs a small batch of work.
