The speed of the each car is 40 km/hr and 30 km/hr

Let the car’s speed from point A be x km/hr and point B be y km/hr.

Their effective speed will be (x + y) km/hr if they are moving in the other direction, that is, toward one another.

Their effective speed, if they are moving in the same direction, will be (x – y) km/hr.

The answer to the query is

70/ (x – y) = 7 …. (1)

70/ (x + y) = 1 …. (2)

On simplifying from equation (1) and (2), we get,

x – y = 10 …. (3)

x + y = 70 …. (4)

Adding equation (3) and (4)

2x = 80

x = 40 km/hr

y = 70 – 40 = 30 km/hr

Speed

The distance travelled in relation to the time it took to travel that distance is how speed is defined. Since speed simply has a direction and no magnitude, it is a scalar quantity.

Summary:-

Points A and B are 70 km apart on a highway. A car starts from A and another car starts from B simultaneously. If they travel in the same direction, they meet in 7 hours. But,if they travel towards each other, they meet in 1 hour. The speed of the each car is 40 km/hr and 30 km/hr
