The full form of PNB is Punjab National Bank. Punjab underwent explosive growth under British rule, especially after annexation in 1849, leading to the emergence of a new educated class motivated by a desire to be free of the yoke of slavery. On May 19, 1894, PNB was born. The Punjab National Bank (PNB), India’s first Swadeshi bank, began operations on April 12, 1895, in Lahore, with a Rs 2 lac authorized capital and a Rs 20,000 working capital. The bank was founded in the spirit of nationalism, and it was the first bank entirely managed by Indians and wholly funded by Indian money. Its headquarters are in Dwarka, New Delhi, India.
