PIB Summary & Analysis: 18-09-2021

Press Information Bureau (PIB) is the nodal agency disseminating news from the Government of India to the media. The releases of PIB are important from the IAS Exam perspective. PIB Summary and Analysis will help aspirants to understand the significance of particular issues in the news and its context in relation to the current affairs.

1. International Coastal Clean Up Day

Context:

The 36th International Coastal Cleanup Day was celebrated consecutively for the tenth year by Eastern Naval Command (ENC).

About International Coastal Clean Up Day:

  • Every year, on the third Saturday of September, the International Coastal Clean-up Community encourages people around the world to remove trash and debris from beaches, waterways and other water bodies.
  • The Day is observed to maintain the coastline clean, thereby protecting the coastal flora and fauna. It is also organised to document littering around the coastline.

3. Rashtriya Poshan Maah

Context:

Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission Commemorates 4th Rashtriya Poshan Maah, 2021.

About Rashtriya Poshan Maah:

  • The entire month of September is observed as ‘Poshan Maah’ to take the message of nutrition to every nook and corner of the country and to focus on complimentary food, treatment and prevention from infections in children.
  • During this month, activities related to nutrition will be carried out by the states/UTs up to the grassroots level.
  • The Poshan Maah was initiated to give momentum to the Poshan Abhiyaan.
  • The Poshan Maah will be observed with four themes.
    • The first theme is Plantation Activity as “Poshan Vatika” and will be observed from September 1-7. 
    • The second theme is Yoga and AYUSH for nutrition and will be observed from September 8 to 15.
    • The third theme has been decided as Distribution of ‘Regional Nutrition Kit’ to Anganwadi beneficiaries of High Burdened Districts and will be observed from 16-23 September.
    • Lastly, the fourth theme is ‘Identification of SAM (Severely Acute Malnourished) children and distribution of nutritious food’ and will be observed from 24-30 September.
