Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund


The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved setting up of Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF) worth Rs. 15,000 crore.

Need for Fund

  • To incentivize and promote Private companies and MSMEs for their involvement in processing and value addition infrastructure.
  • Will provide a boost to investment for the development of dairy infrastructure. 
  • A step in direction of achieving the goal of “doubling farmers’ income” by 2022.

About Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AIDF)

  • AIDF is a Rs 15,000 Crore Fund to facilitate incentivisation of investments in the establishment of infrastructure for dairy and meat processing. 
  • It also focuses on value addition infrastructure and establishment of animal feed plants in the private sector.
  • The eligible beneficiaries under the Scheme would be MSMEs, Private Companies, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and individual entrepreneurs.
  • They will contribute a minimum 10% margin money and the remaining 90% would be the loan component to be made available by scheduled banks.
  • The Government of India will provide 3% interest subvention to eligible beneficiaries. 
  • Government of India would also set up a Credit Guarantee Fund of Rs. 750 crore to be managed by NABARD.


  •  For Investors
    • AHIDF and the interest subvention scheme for private investors will ensure the availability of capital to meet the upfront investment required for these projects.
    • Will help enhance overall returns/ payback for investors.  
  • For Economy
    • Such investments would promote the export of processed and value-added commodities.
    • Would help in direct and indirect livelihood creation for 35 lakh.
  • For Farmers
    • Almost 50-60% of the final value of dairy output in India flows back to farmers, therefore, growth in this sector can have a significant direct impact on farmer’s income.
    • Will also motivate farmers to invest more on inputs thereby driving higher productivity leading to higher incomes.
    • Will promote the development of new cooperatives and private diaries.



Reforms in the Space Sector


The Union Cabinet has approved reforms in the Space sector aimed at boosting private sector participation in the entire range of space activities.

  • The creation of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe) will provide a level playing field for private companies to use Indian space infrastructure.
  • IN-SPACe will focus on a friendly regulatory environment and encouraging policies. It will also hand-hold, promote and guide the private industries in space activities.
  • Plans are to open some planetary exploration missions too for the private sector.
  • With a goal of ensuring optimum utilization of our space assets, ‘New Space India Limited (NSIL)’ (a Public Sector Enterprise) will endeavour to reorient space activities from a ‘supply-driven’ model to a ‘demand-driven’ model. 


  • Space sector can play a major catalytic role in the expansion of our industrial base and technological advancement.

  • These reforms will enhance the socio-economic use of space assets and activities, through improved access to space assets, data and facilities.
  • ISRO would be able to focus more on research and development activities, new technologies, exploration missions and human spaceflight programme.

India is among a few elite countries with advanced capabilities in the space sector. With these reforms, the sector will receive new energy and dynamism and will help the country leapfrog to the next stages of space activities.

Skills Build Reignite- Free Digital Learning Platform


MSDE in partnership with IBM has launched a Free Digital Learning Platform “Skills Build Reignite”.

The aim is to reach More Job Seekers & Provide New Resources to Business Owners in India.


  • Creating opportunities for Young India with focus on new-age skills like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, 3D - Technology, Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, etc. which are aligned to Industry 4.0 requirements, is the prime focus for Directorate General of Training (DGT), under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE)
  • In 2019, IBM, in partnership with DGT made the SkillsBuild online learning platform available to Indian students through Bharatskills (https://bharatskills.gov.in) of DGT.
  • This platform provided access to Digital classrooms to students and instructors from the Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and technical education ecosystem in India.
  • According to the India Skill Report (2019), only 45.6% of the youth graduating from educational institutions are employable. This reflects the massive shortage of skilled workforce in the country.

In its effort to address the current skills gap in the country, IBM and MSDE introduced the SkillsBuild Reignite and the SkillsBuild Innovation Camp

The SkillsBuild Reignite

  • It seeks to provide job seekers and entrepreneurs, with access to free online coursework and mentoring support designed to help them reinvent their careers and businesses. 
  • They can access industry-relevant content on topics including Artificial intelligence, Cloud, Data analytics and security to reskill and upskill themselves, at no cost. 
  • The major highlight is the personalized coaching for entrepreneurs, seeking advice to help establish or restart their small businesses.

The SkillsBuild Innovation camp 

  • It is a 10-week program which supports 100 hours of structured learning to learners who are interested in gaining hands-on project experience to enhance learning.
  • It will help them build their network and enhance their employability. 
  • With the guidance of expert facilitators, IBM volunteers and coaches, the students will be guided through the design thinking process and learn strategic methods to craft their problem statement, ideate creatively, solve complex problems more quickly, design innovative user experience and tell compelling stories. 
  • The SkillsBuild Innovation Camp will conclude with a pitch to facilitators, other teams, stakeholders and potential employers or investors.

Annual TB Report 2020


Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr Harsh Vardhan released the annual TB Report 2020

Key Achievements:

  • The report highlights around 24.04 Lakh notified TB patients in 2019. This amounts to a 14% increase in TB notification as compared to the year 2018.
  • Achieving on-line notification of TB patients through the NIKSHAY system.
  • The proportion of children diagnosed with TB increased to 8% in 2019 compared to 6% in 2018,due to easy availability of molecular diagnostic.
  • Expansion of treatment services has resulted in a 12% improvement in the treatment success rate of notified patients, 81% (2019) compared to 69% (2018).
  • India has more than 4.5 lakh DOT Centers providing treatment and covering almost every village across the country.
  • NIKSHAY also expanded the provision of four Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT) schemes under the programme –
    1. Nikshay Poshan Yojana (NPY) to TB patients
    2. The incentive to Treatment Supporters
    3. The incentive to Private Providers and
    4. Transport incentives for TB patients in notified tribal areas

The Government of India is committed to achieving the SDG goal of eliminating TB in the country by 2025, five years ahead of the Global Target

The programme has been renamed to National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) from earlier Revised National Tuberculosis Control Program (RNTCP).

The NTEP has expanded both the laboratory network as well as diagnostic facilities to cover the entire country. 

Expansion of TB services and addressing determinants of TB that are beyond health, through a multi-sectoral approach is necessary to end TB by 2025.





Kushinagar Airport in Uttar Pradesh has been declared as an international airport by the Union Cabinet.


  • It is an important Buddhist pilgrimage site, where Gautama Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana
  • Buddhists pilgrims from all over the world come here for pilgrimage.
  • Kushinagar has several other Buddhist sites in its vicinity like Sravasti, Kapilavastu and Lumbini that makes it an attraction for both followers and visitors alike.
  • Kushinagar is also a part of Buddhist circuit pilgrimage spanning across India and Nepal.


  • The Buddhist Circuit is a key pilgrimage destination for over 530 million practising Buddhists across the world.
  • This declaration will offer improved connectivity and a wider choice of services at competitive costs to the air-travellers.
  • Devotees from Thailand, Cambodia, Japan, Burma, come and offer their prayers at Kushinagar. However, this International tourist destination had no direct connectivity, which had been a long pending demand of the visitors.
  • Direct international connectivity to Kushinagar would substantially boost the number of foreign and domestic tourists.
  • Kushinagar will also provide impetus to the economic development of the region. 
  • The international airport is expected to boost the booming tourism and hospitality ecosystem in India.
