Following the completion of your screening test and the start of your stage 2 testing, you must first complete the PIQ Form. The interviewing officer, GTO, and psychologists may occasionally receive copies of the candidate’s PIQ form. They determine whether a candidate has given a genuine response in the paper based on this data and their appraisal of the candidate’s answers to psychological tests.
The basic PIQ form is a two-page questionnaire that asks about some fundamental aspects of your identity and private life. Whatever you write on your form must match your behaviors while staying at the SSB Center, as these questions help define your personality. The following are the areas the PIQ form consists of:
- Place of Residence
- Details of your Family Members
- Educational Details
- Participation in Extra-circular Activities
- Details of your Previous SSB Attempts

Importance of PIQ Form for SSB Interview
PIQ Form is significant as it has crucial information about the aspirant, so interview questions in SSB interviews are generally asked from whatever you write in your form. Most of the questions that the IO (Interviewing Officer) will ask you during the personal interview will be based on your PIQ form.
The interviewing officer will review your PIQ form in advance and then come up with questions to cross-check it. These questions will be indirect, so you might find it easy to answer them, but you shouldn’t contradict what you have written in the PIQ form. Therefore, writing about who you are and what you can demonstrate in a personal interview is preferable.

Role of PIQ Form in SSB Interview
The PIQ is a candidate’s first impression of the IO and psychologist. An image of carelessness is given by the PIQ Form that is hurriedly written, has too many cuttings and writings, or provides incomplete information. It is, therefore, important for candidates to fill in the PIQ form appropriately.
The form provides basic candidate background information. However, it will not be able to give any insight into the candidates’ attitude towards life and work, whether they are likely to get along with people, whether they can adapt to the service environment, their problem areas, social activities, leadership potential, etc.
Candidates must carefully provide the information in the PIQ form of the SSB Interview and be prepared during the interview to share logically their experiences and lessons of their participation in all the activities they mentioned in the form.
How to Fill Out SSB PIQ Form Correctly?
The first page of the PIQ form includes questions about you, your family, your hometown, your educational background, and any remarkable accomplishments you may have. The questions on the second page of the PIQ Form are about your professional life. They include inquiries about your current job, involvement in extracurricular activities and games, service preference, and the number of Defence Exam Recruitment attempts you have made. The information for completing the form is as follows:
- Take your time and carefully fill out the PIQ form.
- Write clean and neat; write the correct thing in the correct place.
- Furnish all the details – education qualification, responsibilities, hobbies, etc.
- Avoid cutting & overwriting.

What Does the SSB PIQ Form Reveal?
The Personal Information Questionnaire (PIQ) contains basic information about the candidate’s qualifications, achievements, family background, etc. After clearing the screening test, a candidate is required to fill out two copies of the same. The PIQ Form SSB reveals the following things:
- Remember that a good SSB PIQ is like the candidate’s letter of recommendation. SSB assesses a candidate’s future by analyzing his past. Your events in life will make it easy for you to face the hard life of the armed forces.
- Cutting and overwriting reveal that the candidate lacks clarity in thoughts and has a careless attitude.
- Following a proper order while writing responsibilities and achievements reveals good organizing ability.
- A person with significant responsibilities, hobbies, achievements, and extra-curricular activities is social and can adjust quickly to others.
- Hobbies and interests reveal a lot about personality. Hobbies that are productive and creative generate the interest of the interviewer.
Questions Asked from PIQ Form in SSB Interview
The PIQ form gives information about a candidate’s social exposure. Responsibilities, participation, and the variety of activities you engage in demonstrate your exposure to the real world. They have gained more excellent expertise in addressing everyday life issues as they have done more. Other topics on which questions from the PIQ form are typically asked in interviews include:
- Basic Information: What is your name, the meaning of your name, the purpose of the names of other members in your family, compare yourself to them, and the name of your place of origin?
- Family: How many members since the description and kind of relationship with each member, closer to whom, closer to whom, closer to whom you admire when living in the same place. Compare with any of your brothers or sisters. What do you prefer to have an elder / younger brother/sister if you’re alone? Family worker occupation, if you work, your job profile, salary, etc.
- Education: an institution where you completed your schooling, since when any achievements, any responsible position held in the institution during your education, represented the institution at what levels, subjects you liked the most and those you didn’t like at all, why, teachers, you wanted the most and those you didn’t like at all, why (including teachers and subjects up to all these years of education and education). What are you doing at the moment? What are the additional options (if not the army), why, why, and when was the army liked?
- Friends: What kind of friends you like, what kind of friends you don’t like, where you’ve gone and where you want to go with your friends, why are these people your friends, describe your best friend, compare him with you (appearance, height, texture, thinking, something familiar in both of you), their hobbies and interests, the way they live and what they want to achieve in life.
- Personal Questions: How do you spend your time, hobbies, and interests?
- Responsibilities: How would you organize a competition for football / hike / cycle / local festival / trek / swimming?
