  • 60% оr equivаlent GРА in Mаsters оr M. Teсh оr M. Рhаrm in аny brаnсhes оf Аgriсulturаl Sсienсes, Biоlоgy, Life Sсienсes, Рhаrmасy (аny sрeсiаlizаtiоn), Veterinаry Sсienсes, Соmрuter Sсienсes, Biоinfоrmаtiсs аnd Biоteсhnоlоgy.
  • Students with Mаster’s degrees in Рhysiсs, Сhemistry оr Mаthemаtiсs hаving аn interest in рursuing а саreer in Biоlоgy аre аlsо enсоurаged tо аррly. 
• Сhemiсаl Sсienсes: 
  • 60% оr equivаlent GРА in Mаsters in Сhemistry оr аllied Сhemistry fields.

  • In аdditiоn tо the аbоve сriteriа, саndidаtes with M.Sс. degrees shоuld роssess а mаthemаtiсаl, рhysiсаl оr Сhemiсаl sсienсe-bаsed Bасhelоr’s degree.
• Humаnities аnd Sосiаl Sсienсes: 55% оr equivаlent GРА in Mаsters in Sосiаl Sсienсes оr in аllied disсiрlines.
• Mаthemаtiсаl Sсienсes: 60% оr equivаlent GРА in Mаster’s degree exаminаtiоn.
• Рhysiсаl Sсienсes: 60% оr equivаlent GРА in Mаsters in Рhysiсs оr M.E/M.Teсh in Аррlied Рhysiсs.

NISER PhD Admission 2022: How To Apply?

The application form has to be filled out online on the official website of NISER Bhubaneshwar, i.e., http://www.niser.ac.in and candidates should follow the stepwise instructions mentioned below to complete the application submission process.

• Step-1: At the time of application, along with this online form, the candidate should upload a soft copy of all the supporting documents as per the eligibility criteria.
• Step-2: Candidates intending to apply for more than one school or department should fill up separate online application forms for each school with appropriate supporting documents.
• Step-3: Two sealed letters of reference in the prescribed format with the signature of the referee on the application form envelope should be produced by the student at the time of the interview (if shortlisted).
• Step-4: The copy of the reference letter is available online, candidates can check and download it.
• Step-5: NISER does not demand any application fee from the candidates who wanted to apply for PhD programs. 

NISER PhD Admission 2022: Fellowship Amount

Students with institute fellowship from NISER will be eligible to get the monthly amount of Rs. 31,000/- for the first two years, which will subsequently be enhanced to Rs. 35,000/- for the remaining three years, subject to the condition that he/she fulfils all the requirements of the Institute that will be stipulated from time to time.

Students with an external fellowship from agencies viz. CSIR, UGC etc will be eligible to draw fellowship as per the extant rules and regulations of the respective funding agencies/authority.

NISER PhD Admission 2022: Selection Procedure

Candidates can check the selection process below prior to applying online for the application process.

• The selection committee of the respective schools will release the list of shortlisted candidates among those who meet the minimum educational qualifications and satisfy additional criteria which each school may set as deemed necessary.
• The short-listed candidates will be called for a personal interview, supplemented by a written test, if necessary, for admission.
• Based on the academic record and the performance of each candidate in the selection process, the selection committee of that particular school will recommend candidates to the Chairman of, the Academic Council for admission to the PhD degree.
• All candidates called for the Test / Personal Interview will be paid to and fro single, second sleeper class railway fare by the shortest route from their place of residence to the Institute. They have to produce evidence (railway ticket/bus) in support of their claim.
