CTET Certificate Scope and Career Growth

Central Teachers Eligibility Test (CTET) is the test conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Many aspirants are confused regarding the process to get a teaching job after qualifying for the CTET exam. As many of you have successfully passed the test and want to know how to get the teaching job. So, today, we are discussing the strategy for the Next Step after Getting CTET Passed Certificate.

As you all know, a CTET certificate is the minimum eligibility to get a teaching job. So, after qualifying for the CTET Exam, you are just eligible to become a government teacher and also candidates can apply for vacancies released by different schools.

The CTET test is considered one of the toughest exams among the other teaching exams. The qualification rate of the CTET Test is very low. so, if you have qualified with a good percentage it means you fall in the bracket of a few thousand students and chances of getting jobs are good in government schools or private schools.

Importance of CTET Certificate:

  • CTET certificate is the minimum eligibility for a central government teaching job, it is like a bonus to your profile.
  • After CTET certificates candidates can apply for all Central Government Teaching jobs like KVS, NVS Army Teacher, ERDO, etc.
  • Without a CTET certificate, candidates cannot apply for Central government teaching jobs.
  • After CTET certificates Candidates can apply for some state government teaching Jobs.
  • Many Privates Institute only prefer or give preference to CTET qualified candidates for teacher recruitment.
  • Many Union territories only preferred CTET qualified Teachers in Regular/Contractual teacher recruitment.
  • After clearing CTET certificates there is a very good chance of getting the government teacher job.

CTET Certificate Applicability:

The CTET certificate is applicable in CBSE Board School, Government School or Schools being run by government bodies/institutions. Nowadays, All government and private, aided, will come under CTET.

Recently, the Delhi government has decided to adopt CTET and will recruit only certified teachers as per the requirements of the Right of children to free and compulsory Education Act 2009.

The NCERT had also laid down the minimum qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher in class 1st to 8th is that he/she should pass the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) after doing B.ed.

CTET certificate holders are also eligible to teach in Government schools under State Government. Although most of the states conduct their own TET exam, the CTET certificate is considered in all  State schools.

I have done bsc biochemistry. I heard that this is not equivalent to Chemistry / biology. I hav done my b.ed.. if I clear both paper 1 and 2.. will I get placed when I aply for a govt teacher job ?

CTET is for teaching class 1-8 students. What if one wants to teach higher students like 10+2 students which exam they have to qualify? One more question,  is qualifying CTET must to appear in PGT/TGT exams?

FAQs

  • Relaxation up to 5% in the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational Qualification for eligibility shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to reserved categories, such as SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled.

  • A person who scores 60% or more in the exam will be considered as TETpass and becomes eligible for a CTET certificate.

  • CTET is applicable in:-


    • The CTET shall apply to schools of the Central Government (KVS, NVS, Central Tibetan Schools, etc.) and schools under the administrative control of UT’s of Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and NCT of Delhi.
    • CTET may also apply to the unaided private schools, which may exercise the option of considering the CTET.
    • Schools owned and managed by the State Government/local bodies and aided schools shall consider the TET conducted by the State Government. However, a State Government can also consider the CTET if it decides not to conduct the State TET.
  • There is no restriction on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a CTET Certificate. A person who has qualified CTET may also appear again for improving his/her score.

  • The Validity Period of the CTET qualifying certificate for appointment will be seven years from the date of declaration of its result for all categories.
