(a) Acceleration
(b) Force Momentum
(c) Angular
(d) Momentum
Newton’s second law gives the measure of Force. Newton’s Second Law states that the rate of change of linear momentum of a body is directly proportional to the external force applied to the body and this change always takes place in the direction of the applied force.
Table of content
Newton’s Second Law
If a body of mass m, moves with velocity p = mv then its linear momentum can be given by F and if force F ∝ dp/dt = K dp/dt
Or
- F = dp/dt [K = 1 in CGS and SI unit]
- F = d(mv)/dt = m dv/dt = ma [As a = dv/dt = acceleration produced in the body]
- F = ma
- Force = mass × acceleration
- The Newton’s second law of motion gives the formula or measure of the force
Summary:
Newton’s second law gives the measure of? (a) Acceleration (b) Force Momentum (c) Angular (d) Momentum
The measure of force is given by Newton’s second law. It states that the rate of change of linear momentum of a body is directly proportional to the external force applied on the body and this change always takes place in the direction of the applied force.
