Per Indian Navy SSC Officer Recruitment, candidates for the Merchant Navy who possess a Certificate of Competency (Foreign going) from the Government of India, Ministry of Shipping & Transport, either as a Second Mate, Mate, or Master, will be appointed as Acting Lieutenants. In contrast, other candidates will be inducted into the rank of Sub Lieutenant.
The Naval Academy in Ezhimala will train extended NOC officers for 44 weeks before they receive professional training aboard naval ships and at training facilities by current regulations. Candidates who do not meet the Indian Navy SSC Officer Recruitment requirements for pilot or observer training will not be kept on staff. Candidates must be single to qualify for training. Any candidate discovered to be married or who marries while undergoing training will be dismissed from the military. They will be responsible for covering all of the candidate's salaries, benefits, and other expenses incurred by the government.
Any officer leaves their position during probation or voluntarily withdraws from their first Indian Navy SSC Officer Recruitment training. In that scenario, they will be obliged to repay the cost of training in whole or in part, as defined by the government, as well as all money received from the government as pay and benefits, as well as interest on the money calculated at the rate in effect for government loans.
