To fill the department’s various vacancies, the Indian Coast Guard conducts a recruitment process every year for different posts like officers, Navik & Yantrik.

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) discharges the recruitment process notification for different posts like Navik & Yantrik. Candidates who have applied for the exam must clearly understand the definitive terms of the Indian Coast Guard Recruitment cycle and its multiple stages.

Indian Coast Guard Navik (GD) Selection Stages

Following are phases in the Indian Coast Guard Navik (GD) selection process 2023 on the basis of these tests judgment of the candidate for the final recruitment:

  1. The written Exam
  2.  Physical Fitness Test
  3. The final medical exam at INS Chilka
  4.  The submission and verification of documents and training after final selection.

The written exam of Indian Coast Guard Navik GD is based on the ICG Syllabus followed in high school (10th standard and 10+2). The candidates can refer the NCERT books to prepare for the ICG Navik (GD) exam. Following table contains all information regarding the ICG Navik (GD) written examination.

Indian Coast Guard Navik (GD) Selection Process Stage 1

  • The exam will be a computer-based exam (Online) which will be taken at the examination center.
  • The merit list will be released which will contain the name of the candidates who have successfully cleared the stage-1 (written exam).
  • The number of vacancies is a major factor besides the marks achieved in the written exam for the selection in stage 1 of the ICG Navik exam.

Indian Coast Guard Navik (GD) Selection Process Stage 2

  • On the basis of candidates’ results in the Computer Based Online Examination, a merit list will be prepared & E-admit card will be released for Stage 2 and will be issued as per the vacancies available in the Indian Coast Guard. 
  • The duration of Stage 2 of the Indian Coast Guard Navik Exam will be from 1 to 2 days. Stage 2 involves the following test & will be qualifying in nature.

Indian Coast Guard Navik (GD) Physical Fitness Selection

Stage-2 merit list will be released after the Computer-based examination, for the candidates who have cleared stage-1 i.e the written exam. The Physical Fitness Test contains 3 tests that have to be completed continuously without any halts and breaks. The candidate has to be prepared and will have to bring his own sports rig.

The candidate appearing for the Indian Coast Guard Navik GD Physical test is advised to wear proper clothing. All the details of the ICG Navik physical fitness test are mentioned below: 

  1. Running- 1 Km
  2. Squats- 20
  3. Push Ups- 10

Document Verification & Initial Medical Examination

The information provided while filling the online application form has to match with all the original documents like grade X/XII/ Diploma mark sheet/photo Identity card/caste certificate/individual subject and aggregate marks.

The medical officer may put the candidates as permanently or temporarily unfit. The candidate can appeal on the result of the initial medical examination. 

The appeal medical has to be completed in the number of following days:

  • Within 21 days in case of permanently unfit
  • Within 42 days in case of temporarily unfit after completion of initial medicals.

Indian Coast Guard Navik (GD) Selection Process Stage 3

  • Based on the candidate’s performance in Stage-1 & Stage-2, an all India merit list will be prepared
  • E-admit card for Stage-3 (final medicals) will be released by ICG as per the vacancies available.
  • The duration of Stage-3 is 1 to 2 days.

Indian Coast Guard Navik (GD) Final Selection

  • The candidates who qualify Stage 3 of Indian Coast Guard Navik (GD) will find their place in the merit as per the vacancies available will be shortlisted for the training at INS Chilka.
  • The candidates have to submit all the original documents & document verification will be carried out by ICG.
  • Candidate will be terminated from service if the documents are not found genuine by respective Boards/Universities/State government.
