Navik has two categories of job profiles: General Duty (GD) and Domestic Branch (DB). Yantrik’s job profile is technical, and a diploma from an ITI or engineering college is one of the requirements. Only those candidates who fit the Indian Coast Guard eligibility conditions are selected for the job.

ICG Eligibility for Navik and Yantrik

Education

Navik: General Duty (GD) Navik candidates should be a 10+2 pass with Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects. For Domestic Branch (DB) Navik, the educational eligibility is Class 10 pass.

Yantrik (Class 10 pass): Indian Coast Guard Qualification for Yantrik includes Class 10 pass and a 3 or 4-year diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, or Telecommunication (Radio or Power).

Yantrik (Class 12 pass): For 10+2 pass candidates, a 2 or 3-year diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, or Telecommunication (Radio or Power) is needed.

Indian Coast Guard Age Limit

Candidates seeking entry into the ICG as Navik or Yanktrik need to be within the specified Indian Coast Guard age limit. The official recruitment notification contains information about the minimum and maximum age allowed. According to Indian Coast Guard eligibility, the candidate applying should be in the following age bracket:

  • The candidate should be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • The candidate should be a maximum of 22 years of age.
  • The candidate should have been born between 01 May 2001 to 30 April 2005 (both dates inclusive).

Indian Coast Guard Age Limit Relaxation

Indian Coast Guard age limit is not the same for everyone. In accordance with the guidelines laid down by the government of India, age relaxation in the maximum age limit is offered to certain special categories of candidates. Yantrik

10th pass certificate from a school examination board recognized by the COBSE, AND 3 or 4-year diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, or Telecommunication (Radio or Power) from an AICTE-approved institute.

OR

10+2 pass with Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects from an Examination Board recognized by the COBSE AND 2 or 3-year diploma from any AICTE-approved institute in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, or Telecommunication (Radio or Power).

Indian Coast Guard Nationality

According to Indian Coast Guard eligibility criteria, candidates seeking entry into this naval defence force should be Indian citizens. They must produce specified documents to prove their Indian citizenship status. Also, the Indian Coast Guard Navik Yantrik posts are open for eligible male candidates only. Female candidates cannot apply for these positions.

Permanent tattoos on any part of the body are not allowed.

Indian Coast Guard Number of Attempts Allowed

As per the Indian Coast Guard eligibility, there is no limit on the number of attempts a candidate can make at these examinations. The Indian Coast Guard Apply Online procedure remains open to all eligible candidates. However, as discussed before, there is a minimum and maximum age limit, and the window is very small. For this purpose, applicants to the Indian Coast Guard must try to clear the exam in the first shot.
