National Defence Academy is the First Tri-Service academy. It is an eminent institution and epitome of global excellence in military education. In the last few years, it has become a unique military training academy that attracts the youth of our & foreign Countries to train & become topnotch officers. 

Historical Background of NDA

Indian Armed Forces played an important role in WW2 & after it ended, then Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army Field Marshal Claude Auchinleck after consulting with committee recommended to establish a training centre, Joint Services Military Academy based on United States Military Academy at West Point.

After Independence, the committee started the work of implementing the recommendation of the committee started working to implement the recommendations of the Field Marshal Claude Auchinleck. Dehradun was chosen for the academy initially but later Khadakwasla was finalized because of its location & surroundings.

How to Join NDA in 2021

Admission Process NDA 2021

Phase 1: Written Examination

Phase 1 of the process is written examination, UPSC conducts the exam twice a year for selection in NDA. Youth of our Country aged between 16.5 and 19.5 are eligible to apply for NDA Exam. The examination for NDA is conducted twice a year; each year almost 4.5 lakh aspirants sit for these prestigious exam out of which approximately 6300 go to phase 2, i.e. SSB interviews and only a handful of aspirants finally get into NDA.

Phase 2: SSB Interview

Candidates who pass written examination are called for SSB interview that is held in 2 phases. It has various psychological tests, group tasks, and personal interview. Approximately 1-2 percent students get finally recommended in NDA SSB.

Phase 3: Medical & Merit List

After getting recommended in SSB, a medical test is carried out thoroughly of all the candidates & a final merit list is made on the basis of written + SSB marks (total 1800 marks, 900 for written & 900 for SSB). Approximately 300-350 cadets get themselves into the NDA.

Training

After joining cadets go through a rigorous training process for 3 years. They graduate with a BA or BSc (Computer Science) or BCs (Computer Science) degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
